“No, we are not here to kill the thing. As the abomination it is, a message is all I need to cross. No more.” the warlock shuddered to think about the circumstances of Amora’s birth, to him the abomination born of a sea-witch. It was “unnatural”, a monster to him. He had brought his apprentice to learn from the experience.“Look at her, as if born by glass. I could almost say it is enough to let her live a normal life.” He said this as if second thoughts entered his mind, but any doubt now fled.

“How about this one, sir?” the apprentice was flipping through the book, attempting to remember the effects by name, to impress his teacher.

“No, I know what I am doing. Just give me the book.” the warlock began to flip through the pages, until he saw what he was looking for. “Ah yes.” He gathered the necessary materials. A pinch of sand, a piece of cloth, and a small amount of silver. He started to crush them together, creating a small powder. “ut eorum visus, serve in vento urente, et peribit omnis visio*.” The words gave the powder a faint glow as it was spread across the mermaid’s forehead.

“Let us be on our way. It is fate that now watches her. May this serve as a warning to the other.” The boy and the warlock returned home, with no care of the work they performed.

(Take their sight, no vision as to serve their blight)*
