“Qyii?” His family’s beloved maid, an older lady with a kind voice, spoke to him from beyond the beaded curtain that acted as the door to his bedroom, “Lady Yhazz is asking to see you.”

Qyii had been laying on the floor with Euirette, a medium-sized bird resembling an owl, sleeping on his chest. “Just a moment.” He carefully sat up and moved the bird, who woke up and chirped sleepily at him, onto a nearby makeshift perch. From there he stood, adjusted his clothing, and walked through the curtain. His maid greeted him with a warm smile and promptly dropped any formalities, “Ah, Qyii… She’s such a sweet girl; She brought you some of the food she made for her father’s meeting.”

“That is kind of her.” Qyii agreed with a slight smile. He would have been there as well, but a storm had barred his way.

“She’ll make a wonderful wife. You know, she would have come down here and told you herself had I not intervened.”

“I know. She’s done it before. Could you bring her here please?”

“Of course. She would appreciate a casual chat with you every one in awhile, you know.”

“I know.”

After no more than a minute, the maid returned with Yhazz, who was carrying a woven basket. Yhazz was respectable in her looks: her shoulder-length, curly hair was well kept and almost shimmery in its light orange hue which contrasted the silvery-white fur on her ears, her eyes were colored in a light shade of dull purple, and her attire was befitting as that of the younger daughter of a lesser noble in Jurrica. She was somewhat short- shorter than Qyii at least- and also somewhat childish in her appearance, with narrow hips and a less than impressive bust.

“Good evening, Qyii.” She greeted with an energetic smile, “I’m sure that [the maid] already told you, but I brought some of the bread that I made, plus, a few other things, since… well, because of the weather.”

Once again, maybe one day I'll finish this.
