Fallen Angel (Cabe)

Cabe woke up with a pain in his back. It wasn’t the first time; he probably just slept in a bad position. Pratt was already up. He must have overslept. He stood up, scratching his neck. He hadn’t made three steps; the pain strikes him violently, making him gasp. It felt like a tear. Did he pull a muscle? Something’s not right. He fell on his knee as it grew even more painful. Something was wrong, very wrong. He could feel something…growing, pushing under his skin. He begins to panic, what is happening to him? He screamed when he felt his skins break off. He could feel blood running on his sides. He heard quick steps down the ladder.
”Cabe?! What’s going on?”
He curled up in a corner.
”Don’t come near me…”
He heard him step in the room anyway.
”Holy shit, what the fuck happened?!”
He didn’t answer; his back was aching like hell. He was panting, eyes closed, not daring to see what happened, to see his partner’s face. He could hear him approach hesitantly. He winced and whimpered when he felt his hand on… on what…his back?
”Hey, Rookie.”
He opened his eyes as Pratt touched his chin. He was terrified.
”How did that happened?”
”I I I don’t know…”

“C’mon, get up.”

He leaned on his roommate, swearing under his breath, to stand up again. He felt a weight behind him, something dragging on the floor. Pratt reached behind him and gently grabs him. He pulls one of the limbs towards him, more in the light. Cabe looked down at it. Dark, leathery skin, covered in blood, stretched between what looked like bones. He followed it as far as his head could turn. It became more muscular at the first joint.

”Is that….?”

Pratt nodded.

”Looks like it. You got wings, dude. Let’s stop that bleeding though.”
