Eggcellent Adventure

--------[Mehen]--------

Korbin sat atop the half mane calmly, waiting for Russ and his mini pack to catch up. He'd pushed ahead a bit quickly, but only because he'd wanted a good vantage point to look out down into the small valley that Anik had hidden eggs in. He'd claimed it was some sort of training exercise, to let them work with tokotas better, get experience for both of them.

The medic was pretty sure it was just an excuse by the odd man to be festive.

Not that he necessarily minded. It got them outside, and he would never say no to festivities, especially since they got few chances for such back on base. This would be good for them, and the tokotas.

While he was riding the half mane called Pagan, he was accompanied by two others- Nux, a familiar piebald male for sure, and a young black pied female called Kali. They were good companions to have around he thought.

Once Russell caught up he'd turn to smile at him. "You excited?" He sure hoped so. After all, things had definitely been good for him in these parts, and being around tokotas had to have him in good spirits. "Anik said there's eight eggs hidden around there. They should be pretty big, and very colorful." That would help in finding them at least.

--------[Cantbreakthis]--------

As much as Russell had wanted to take out Pippa he knew it was for the best he didn’t. She just might eat all of the eggs and that would be hardly a good thing! What if some of them were actually chocolate? That could hardly not be any good for tokotas.

So instead the young redhead rode confidently on Ripley. While he might never feel a hundred percent at home he was healing greatly from the things that had happened prior to coming to this place and certainly was only getting more and more comfortable with handling the tokotas, knowing that the animals certainly didn’t mean any harm.

… besides, it was hard to not be confident when it came to Ripley at the very least. The roan female was certainly utterly comfortable when it came down to things and knew the metaphorical ropes well.

Along with her was a new female – a half mane named Yvette that he wasn’t exceptionally familiar with – as well as the ever militant albino female Steele. He didn’t dare try to use her as a mount… Alaina had warned him that might be a bad idea, especially if he showed his inexperience somehow.

The moment that they spotted the others there was some interest from the merle female… heeey, one of those was her brother after all! “Yeah, sounds like it’s gonna be a round of fun.” He couldn’t help but to beam towards Korbin before he took a good look towards the valley. “We’re supposta bring them all back in one piece?”

--------[Mehen]--------

Russell had a fair concern there. Pippa was still learning, and she was prone to antics. Eating chocolate was definitely bad for tokotas- they were some form of canid after all he thought. That would end badly, and for her safety it was good she hadn't gone along. Maybe another time, for a different trip.

Ripley looked regal as ever, and Russell was...well he was Russell. Charming, attractive, and far from professional- but that was part of the charm.

Sure, tokotas, and this place, could never replace home, could never replace the other wonderful people in their lives, but they were giving them comfort. He was excited to return to their other lovers bearing gifts of fluffy bear dogs. They'd love it!

Pagan was eager to shuffle over to his sister and lick her on the nose. He wuffled happily to her, wagging his tail.

Kali wandered over to sniff the newcomers, looking happy that they were around. Nux joined her quickly, bouncing around them. He seemed a bit disappointed to see that Riggs wasn't among them, but he was glad to see Ripley too! They were his friends, and his reaction had Kali just as excited.

"I think we're supposed to bring back the shells, they're plastic. With goodies in them, for us and the tokotas." Korbin laughed, nudging Pagan into a walk as he headed down into the valley. "Not too big an area to search in, should be easy to find- in fact, there's one now!" He grinned, standing in his saddle to reach one nestled in the branches just above them on the side of the path they'd chosen. Once he had it, he sat back down and offered it to Russell- to let him open the blue egg. "Sounds like something's rattling in there."

--------[Cantbreakthis]--------

Heck, Russell liked to think he was a professional but it certainly couldn’t be further from the truth. He was a bumbling oaf at best when he wasn’t on the move or playing baseball… neither of which he’d had to do since coming to this place.

It was at the very last a good vacation. The redhead had certainly needed it more than he could ever explain but he was starting to miss Lucian something fierce too… but he didn’t know if his friend would be interested in at the very least stopping by at some point. Maybe. Who knew..

Yvette wriggled a little bit before she moved to attempt to shoulder against her brother’s side with jarring force, pleased to see him. It was almost comical how Alaina and Anik had unintentionally ended up with siblings but it all appeared to have worked out all the same.

“That sounds good. Hopefully the tokotas won’t get anything that will hurt them.” Surely the handler wouldn’t be that big of an idiot… surely. According to Alaina he had his moments after all.

Curious he moved to open the egg before he laughed, plucking out a jellybean and eating the sugary candy with relish before he offered the rest over to Korbin. “They’re good! That one was strawberry!”

Meanwhile Steele watched what was going on with keen eyes before she turned away, sniffing through the area carefully. She recognized the smell of plastic quickly enough in a cluster of bushes and soon reappeared with a green egg delicately in her muzzle… carefully carrying it back over towards the two men.

--------[Mehen]--------

Maybe he wasn't much of a professional, but Russell was charming and adorable, and Korbin loved him dearly. He didn't care how professional the man was, just that he was in his life.

He was enjoying their time off. If asked, he was sure Lucian would not be opposed to a visit, to seeing them- he likely missed them a lot too. Lucian was a good sort.

The merle would sidestep a bit at her shove, but he wagged his tail faster none the less. She was a good sister, he was so happy to have her around. Family was good. Anik had been delighted by the fact they were siblings, always glad to keep family in the same place together.

It did them a world of good.

Korbin accepted the egg back with a laugh, taking one for himself too. "Mmm...orange!" He chuckled, sealing the egg and moving to tuck it into one of the bags on his saddle. As he did so, Steele appeared with another egg and he smiled, taking it gently from her and shaking it curiously.

Upon opening it, he saw it was filled with chocolate candies, all in individual and colorful wrappers and shaped like little rabbits. "Chocolate!" How delightful. "Good job Steele."

Nux moved to snuffle at the egg, before bounding off, with Kali following him. He returned several long long moments later with an egg in his mouth and his tail wagging. He'd found one! IT WAS GOOD HE HAD DONE GOOD!

He moved to give it to Russell, moving once the man had taken it to nuzzle Ripley gently, and snuffle at Yvette curiously. She was newer, but he liked her, she was clearly a friend. Pagan liked her, and she looked a little like him, and he, oddly enough, trusted Pagan's judgement. Kali didn't seem to care either way, friends were friends, the more the merrier as far as she was concerned!

--------[Cantbreakthis]--------

Family was always important.

Not that Yvette exactly got on exceptionally well with others. In the front she did, at the very least seemed she did, but she was a conniving creature at heart. The moment the other tokotas’ backs were turned she’d probably steal away whatever they had that she wanted. It was just how she was.

Especially food. She did like food.

Candy wasn’t something that Russell had much since coming here. Well, given how the food situation had been before they’d left it hadn’t been something he’d had in a considerably long while so he was willing to enjoy this while he could.

Steele let the older handler take the egg from her, moving to take a sniff towards the contents but not taking from it. Unless some tokotas she wasn’t greedy in that regard and turned away.

Reaching the redhead took the egg and popped it open, finding treats for the tokotas inside. These he’d move to pass around, enough so everyone could have one, before he clicked it closed. Then Ripley was on the move, following Yvette who had bounded off… startling enough that he had to grab onto the saddle fast so he didn’t topple off for not paying attention.

It didn’t take long between the two females, especially with Ripley’s superior tracking ability, before they unearthed the fourth egg, a red one that was cannily placed near water to help mask its scent, of which he allowed for the merle half mane to proudly carry back to where Korbin and Anik’s tokotas were waiting. The other handler was probably going to have a comical time in getting it from her too but he’d almost certainly succeed once given the chance!

--------[Mehen]--------

Of course, Pagan liked how cunning his sister was. She was a tokota after his own heart it seemed, and he could appreciate that. She'd never stolen his things, and so he didn't take issue with it. He was sure she'd share with him...maybe.

Candy was a rarity for them both really. Korbin was glad to see so much of it. Russell would no doubt appreciate all of it, and he would be more than happy to let him have as much as he wanted. It would be good for him to have nice things like that.

He laughed once he was sure Russell was safely in his saddle, and watched him wander off. When he returned with the next egg he smiled. He dismounted Pagan, moving to the half mane female, petting her head gently and finally getting the egg from her. He opened it curiously and chuckled. "Some chocolate eggs!" Cute little candies really, he liked the thought that had been put into all this.

"We're making good time, I think we should break for a little while, enjoy some of these candies we have!" It was a good suggestion he thought, and if Russell agreed he would find a place for them to sit with their tokotas, getting the eggs out and letting him take as much candy as he wanted.

It was a good day.
