Covey dropped down, causing the branch he was on to shake slightly. His eyes were locked on a large turtle sunning near the stream. He pushed his wings out slightly, prepared to swoop and pin the reptile down, giving him enough time to break its shell and kill the creature. He counted down, one... two... and took off, his grey wings barely making any noise as he approached the rock. The next moment, he was standing with one foot on the turtle, his long talons keeping it from moving. The turtle had retreated back into its shell. Covey looked at it, its face as far back as it would go. He relaxed his grasp slightly, feeling a bit bad for the thing. It looked a bit like his baby pictures. He thought about it for a second.

He flew away quickly and perched on another branch, looking for a rabbit or squirrel to take home. 

He never really liked turtle soup anyways.
