It was a nice, summer day out. As usual, Trevor's Cafe is packed with many people, mostly young teens wanting to enjoy the day out. Unfortunately, Tobias hates such days. The crowd of people is a constant reminder of the workload he has to deal with. Out in public, he gives off his perfect smile to the people he serves. But once he's out of sight, he gives off a disgruntled expression.

"Sometimes it's such a pain to keep such a nice face in front of them. Why do such people deserve to see my smile? Well, it's nothing more than a look. None of these people will ever experience true happiness around me."

After grabbing several orders and serving, he noticed one of his "friends" seated at one of the outdoor tables. It was no mistaken it, it was Trina. Trina is a woman who was in college. She often comes to the cafe to work on her job publishing her school newspaper but she has made a habit of coming by just to see her dear friend. Tobias doesn't see her as such. He's only known her for a few months yet she already treats him like a best friend. It irritates him but he puts on his nice act for her. After all, she works as publisher which means she has a lot of gossip about people of her school who often come to the cafe.

"Trina! Hey! Good to see you here." Tobias smiled as he approached her table.

"Toby! Darling~ I thought you wouldn't notice me from the huge crowd of people here. How've you been?"

"I've been fine. Unfortunately, today might not be. As you can see, I have a whole workload to do today." He gave a sigh.

She giggled, "Aw, dear~ You'll pull through. You've been through worse. Anyway, I'll order something simple and easy to make for you sake." She gave him a smile.

"Thank you. Anything to make my life easier will be grateful. So, anything going on in your life right now?"

"Oh my gosh! You wouldn't believe this but I met Korina just yesterday! And guess who she was walking with~?"

Trina started up a conversation. Nothing really too exciting to Tobias. Just some talk about a girl she knows dating a "handsome prince of a man". She described the man in such perfect detail. At least he knows who to look out for if this man ever came by. After about 5 minutes, he left to get Trina's order ready. As he was waiting for the food to be prepared, he wrote down what he had just talked about with Trina as not to forget.

"Truly, I don't understand why this type of stuff excites women. Oh well, it's something new at least." Once he was done writing, he grabbed the order and brought it to Trina. She tried to strike up another conversation with him but he stopped her before she could began rambling on. He had too much to do and little time to hang out. Trina understood and paid him for the meal. She also threw in a tip for him as she usually does.

"Ah, thank you. You are a true angel." Tobias complimented. They both gave their goodbyes and Tobias ran off to collect more orders.

Once the day ended, Tobias was completely exhausted. It was a lot of work with little to no breaks. Finally, it was over now so he could go home. After having packed up his stuff, he walked out onto the sidewalk and headed for his apartment. Fortunately, it was only a few blocks away from the cafe so it wasn't a long trip. On his way, he perused the windows of the many stores he passed by. Though he was exhausted, he always had time to admire the decor and displays that these stores had. Seeing such beauty made him happy.

"It must be nice to put something like this together. Sometimes I wish I was artistic enough to do such things. Unfortunate for me, I never have the chance to try it. All I can do is look at the pretty things. Never have them. Never touch them. Always so expensive. People would never spend that kind of money on me..." He sighed.

Once he arrived home, he plopped on his bed and took a moment to breathe. Once he was relaxed, he sat up and pulled out a book which he had been reading. It was a huge book that had been worn out a little. The title of the book reads "Tales of the East: A Collection of Myths and Magic" He turned to the page where he left a bookmark. On the page, there was a subtitle that read "A Siren's Sanctum". He took a moment to admire the picture that was on the other page.

"Sirens, huh? Such deceitful creatures. Luring people with their beautiful voices only to take advantage of their prey. Reminds me of some lovely people I once knew. Trying to comfort me with beautiful words of promises only to slowly eat away at me. Draining me of all my energy until I was of no use. I'm glad I realized before it was too late. What irony it is to deceive those who have done so to you. You are either a tool yourself or someone who uses them. Such a cruel world indeed..."

He began reading to distract himself from his memories. He continued reading until sleep took him over.
