ghoar + lum backstory

so ghoar was a warrior that didnt rlly think for himself while he was in his stronghold and left for one reason or another and became a wanderer and then became an assassin for hire. if u had enough money he would kill shit for u. he hates humans w a burning passion bc of how they treat anyone that isnt a human. so he settles down in a city thats p diverse and with plenty of people who want other people dead. and he meets sharoga there and they? dont fall in love exactly but they enjoyed each others company and sharoga gets pregnant and suddenly?? ghoar starts thinking abt this kid and whats gonna happen to this kid bc its his kid and he doesnt want this kid to be hurt like he was

and so lum is born and ghoar falls in love instantly and hes so fucking confused bc??? hes never felt love like this for any creature. he loves his son so much and he wants needs to protect him. he starts taking more jobs to get money for lum and sharoga and? when lum is like two sharoga leaves for her stronghold and ghoar and lum move to a quiet town where nothing really happens and ghoar takes a day job and quits killing people

but after a while the jarl of the town dies and his son takes over and kicks ghoar and lum out of the town. so now ghoar has his kid ( whos abt 5 at the time ), no home, and a new found anger in his heart that he doesnt want his baby to see. he goes to the nearest stronghold, which is far away ( and it almost kills lum in the process bc of the cold and low food intake ), and he gets help. this is where he meets ghorbash, who later becomes his husband.

ghoar asks ghorbash to help train lum so that he can protect himself. and ghoar gets back to killing people. hes gone thru the night and he comes home exhausted but seeing lums smiling face is enough to keep him going. the stronghold happened to be a lot more tolerate of humans and lum grew up with a family that taught him how to accept the fact that some humans werent going to accept him no matter what but it was already and not every conflict w these humans had to end in slaughter.

and lum turns 8 or so and ghoar decides its time to leave the stronghold bc he has enough money and he thinks that being a bit closer to a city will help lum out. ghorbash ends up coming with him to ghoars surprise. ghoar and ghorbash make a house over the course of a year and a half ( lum helps a little bit but ) and>?? ghoar finally sorta feels at peace? his eye sight is getting worse

( hes basically blind in his right eye at this point bc of an old injury ) so he cant do his 'job' as often as he used to and lum is almost grown up ( by orcish standards ) and ghorbash is blind in one eye so hes like?? what if i retire??? so these old men retire and keep watch over lum anD

it gives ghoar a lot of time reflect and he realizes that? he didnt really feel alive until lum was born and? he changed himself so that lum would have a father and not a dictator or warrior and he realizes that he didnt start to love until lum came along. he loves ghorbash and the people in the stronghold and some of the people in the town were they leave and he loves sharoga in a new light and he loves her kids and??? he breaks down now and then bc hes son changed so much of him for the better and he feels blessed that lum is alive and strong and such a loving boy and sdjkfgjsdjkf im crying

hes fucked up but hrjdfj he tries so hard and lum tells him that hes appreciated everything ghoars ever done to raise him ans ghoar starts crying in front of him and GOD I LOVE THEM

there were two moments that ghoar thought lum was going to die in front of him. once when they were trying to get to the stronghold in the middle of a cold fall and the other was when lum was mauled by a lone wolf. luckly ghoar was nearby and killed the wolf before it did too much damage to lum but?? ghoar had never felt horror like that before?? never thought abt someone else more than himself than at those moments. they got to the stronghold before lum got too weak and the wolf later became a nice pair of bracers.
