Andromeda and Scytus “You realize how important you are to me, right?”

“I like to think so, yes.” Scytus responded. In front of him was Andromeda, one of the most beautiful vayrons he knew. She seemed to be just like him, experts in their own fields. The similarities was still endless, just like how the stars seemed to shine in their pelts. Andromeda really looked like a galaxy, Scytus the planets you could find within it.

“Then prove it to me.”

“Not right now. I'm trying to admire you. After all, aren’t we meant to get bonded soon?” Being bonded was important to him. Almost as important as just seeing Andromeda here with him. They promised to give each other nicknames when they finally were connected spiritually instead of just physically. It was nice having Andromeda with him, especially since she seemed to be doing everything for him. As bad as that sounds, it was nice.

Andromeda would always be helping him on his small missions, it was time he helped her though. More than once she managed to bring back an object that would continue his studies further and allow him to test the real thing. Recently though, he got her a small bird. Small for her at least. A parrot. It was mostly white, with small shades of blue here and there. Obviously something unnatural.

“Of course! I'm actually quite excited. It's nice actually being normal with you. Around almost everyone else I have to seem mean and strict!” But technically she was. Only a while ago she was something dangerous. Attacking everything and everyone, leaving them without any company. Alaska seemed pretty happy here though, helping me with my ideas. Andromeda seemed to go dark after a while of rare communication with me though I noticed.

Scytus always found it interesting how aggressive she could get through, which left him to let Alaska stay with her for a while. She was sweet to her, but to the vayron that attacked them she was brutal. She proved herself to be worth it, hence why he remains with her even though she could become a monster so easily.

“I've noticed something. Something odd about myself,” Andromeda stated, catching Cytus full attention.

“And that is?”

“What I can actually do. I feel like I can control gravity sometimes… if you know what I mean. Enchanted strength or just making my body insanely heavier? I'm not sure. Sometimes particles float in the sky around me too,” she finished with worry. “I don't know what it means,” she spoke. She seemed uncomfortable hinting to get an answer from him. As if Scytus was going to just walk away.

“It means you are getting magic. There's three types- we just need to find out what type.” It means you're becoming a monster, Scytus teased himself. He wouldn't be far off though. Its best to keep her near me in case she does change.

“So you'll help me then?” Her eyes sparked. It was hilarious how odd and weak she would seem with him. He was told by one of her friends Noah how she took down three runners once just to get another object for me.

“Of course, but let's head back first,” he responded. Together under the moon creatures could easily hear them- some unwanted. He rarely ever went out at day, his favorite time being night. Every full moon he promised her they’d go outside and talk.

“Fine, but next time I want this to be longer.”

With that, he got on all four legs. Crunch. His pawsteps sounded heavy, but hers didn’t. Looking forward as I walked, I could feel eyes resting on me. Our pathway was simple, following the beaten down line of dirt. Flowers soaking in the moon's glow hung over the path, with the trees doing just as the flowers did. He knew that her thoughts would always rush to think of something else which left him wondering what she was actually thinking about at the time. Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t even realize they were already there. Looking over to Andromeda Scytus spoke, “Were here,” but noticed bits of twig in her mane. Bending his bend over to pick them out of her fur he spat them out.

Their home was quite impressive since it consisted of an old temple made from stone. Bits of marble were inside though, hidden from the world. Old riches used to lay here before they were stolen by humans and other vayrons just like them. When Andromeda came there, she kept it for herself at first since she found nothing there. He realized over time she won’t leave anywheres without anything. Moving out of his old home he ended up coming here with Andromeda.

Vines surrounded the base of the pillars, which stood next to large boulders. The roof of this home was covered with another large boulder which collided with the top of the structure. Additionally there were small holes inside which still left small pools of water, but one hole was large enough to serve as a skylight. “Were you going to take a soak in the pool?” he questioned her.

“Yeah, aren’t you?”

“Only if you do.” Walking inside, darkness engulfed them for roughly five seconds before appearing in the main room which had figures carved from the stone floor. Moss was growing on the sides of their home, vines twisting around to it. An old bookcase stood around where they came from, holding all of the books Andromeda got them both. Andromeda walked over to it speaking.

“I'll be bringing this to Alaska. She's reading so much! It makes me quite happy,” she finished as she then grabbed the book to disappear into the darkness of another room. Moments later she was back out walking towards the small pool at the very back, going through a short hallway. “You know we could start a small clan right?” the walls echoed her voice.

“I do, but I want to finish my experiments first.”

“They could help you with it.”

“No, I don't want thieves here.”

“Aren’t I a thief?”

He paused. “No, but they are. I don't want to risk Alaska. We could let Noah stay though, but he could bring trouble.”

“This place is extremely quiet. Noah isn’t welcomed here. You literally just said no thieves anyway,” she responded. The water started to show waves when Andromeda collides with the water. Scytus followed behind her, stepping into the pool with her. Splash! Not as gracefully quiet as Andromeda, but the same either way.

“You know exactly what else we can do. I really want another kid, they are so precious. This time though…”

“I do as well, Andromeda.” A flare of love flowed through him just as the waters cold touch did.

“YUCKY!”

“Great. I almost forgot about the parrot.”

Scytus watched as she walked out of the pool, droplets of water hitting the ground just like a rainstorm hit the ground. Her paws guided her towards the cage that the parrot was MEANT to be sleeping in currently, the parrots eyes staring at her when it tilted its head side to side.

“FOOD, NOW!” it demanded.

“Get it yourself Mr.Bird Poop,” she responded sassily. Nuzzling the beak of the bird, she walked back to the pool. The cage that the bird was in had white steel and made for safety, but he recently did edits that left the cage open so the bird who was named Nathaniel could easily get out of in order to get his food. Obviously, he wasn’t used to it yet so he would get permission with a nuzzle. Clink, Clang. The bird crawled out of the cage to disturb the peaceful bag of birdseed.

“What's the news on today, Nathaniel?” Scytus requested. Andromeda was trying to relax currently, laying down in the pool. The skylight from above shone on her pelt, distracting him fairly well as Nathaniel responded. Stars seemed to glow straight from her, dancing in a blue and purple galaxy that was her fur.

“WELL, A RAT CAME BUT ALASKA ATE IT,” it squealed.

“Wait what?” Andromeda opened her eyes suddenly.

“SHE ATE A RAT,” he repeated.

“Why the hell would she eat it?” She turned to me.

“How would I know? I don’t study vayrons!”

“Well she's still YOUR daughter too! Don’t you talk to her?” she questioned him.

“Uh- of course. Yeah, of course I do. I just don’t know why she would eat a rat. Aren’t YOU hunting?” he turned the tables.

“Of course I'm hunting but she's literally eating rats. I’ve noticed that you have gained some extra pounds recently-”

“Don’t even go there!” he barked, but had a faint smile to let her know he was just teasing her.

“SHE ALSO HELPED-”

Andromeda glared at Nathaniel. “No, no more. We don’t want to know.”

“SHUT UP!” it squawked.

“So… that's what she helped with, teaching you to suddenly be a jerk.” Scytus noted. “Surprisingly, I think I agree with him on this one though.”

“You must of got lessons too, huh?”

“I mean.. Sure. Oh yeah, Andromeda? I want to do more work on the home if we are meant to stay here.”

“We will be. I've been looking around for places that sell furniture. I really do want to have more lights though… Especially for Alaska.” Her room was dark, just like Scytus’s and Andromeda's was. She only really had a couple blankets that she got to keep from the previous home Andromeda shared with her. I protested that the blankets were bad memories for both of them, but she wanted to keep them. She claimed the others were not soft enough. In their current home they had multiple rooms, since it thankfully was fairly large temple. It always amazes them how no humans took it or even other vayrons- but they assumed that the humans simply got what they wanted. Temples were left alone at most times for wild vayrons to get. One thing he loved about the temple was how many rooms there was, one being deeper underground but filled with water. They never bothered to touch those rooms since they were filled to the top of the stairs with greenish water. It scared all of them, so they tried to hang a blanket over the entryway of the room. Andromeda would comment on how the small tunnel could actually have lots of treasures deep within it with other rooms… but right now it wasn’t anything they wanted to risk. They had a large room with smaller makeshift ones within it. Two hallways that connected to each other kept the kitchen, Alaska's room, me and Andromeda’s room, my personal room, and a couple others safe.Alaska had their old room, since it was the closest to the light of the main room. “We need to make sure though that we can have the entrance be safer…” I trailed off.

“Of course. I think that this room should be more open for the parrot too!’

“What? He will crap everywhere!”

“CRAP!” they chirped. Splat.

“Look at what you made him do. You scared him!”

“Oh hush it lady,” he teased before continuing. “I want that too but instead a larger cage built into the wall. I do want the bird able to go anywhere though too.”

“Another young vayron too, right?” Andromeda questioned. She was trying hard for such a small creature, since she wanted to have their own. She happened to speak of how empty the home was from time to time, leaving Scytus slightly uncomfortable. It made him think about it himself.

She mentioned before that if she got one she’d want a male. A female would be great as well but instead something for a later date. It did worry Scytus that Alaska may not be treated as well though if such a thing happened, due to her being adopted. Additionally about how Andromeda would behave. Would she keep him away from the son?

“With our luck we’d get a girl,” she whispered to him.

“Girls aren’t even that bad yaknow. I'd be happy with just anything, lucky with anything in fact. Call me crazy, but I do have an idea as well,” he finished. He was still laying in the pool that she was currently in, the bird finally being silent as it listened.

“What is it then? Also, I know girls aren’t that bad… I just like diversity.”

“Good. And I meant that we could just adopt more vayrons. I know one that is still young, a chaser, but she isn’t accepted by many due to being born… Inbred,” he hated saying that word since it came with such a heavy meaning. The poor chaser could of been stillborn… which was an awful way to enter the world. It was shunned to be Inbred and even Andromeda cringed when she heard the word.

“That's awful.”

“I know. She isn’t treated fairly. She wants to leave home and start a new,” He added.

“How do you know anything about her though?” she questioned him with sharp eyes.

“I do have people that come here you know.” Admittedly, he did. Time to time he’d check if there was any vayrons up for adoption. He was lucky with Alaska, surprising Andromeda with such an adorable creature like her. He never got to hear her backstory, but instead that she needed a home right away.

“Of course… I'm sure you still do things in secret, though.”

“LIke what?”

“Thinking about entering that odd room! I'm really curious about it too though,” she exclaimed. “Listen, I really want to sleep now.”

“I actually do too,” he responded realizing how druzy he was getting. Crawling out of the water silver diamonds splattered onto the floor reminding them of waterfalls. Andromeda followed close behind, black beady eyes looking at them as they did so. The eyes were from the parrot, who examined where the nose was coming from.

They trotted into their room which was almost entirely black. Ripped pale cloth covered the stone walls to show a bit of color, with pelts to numerous animals on the floor. Some of the pelts were from white foxes, prey they caught during winter. One was a tiger, others being the casual moose. In the corner were lightless candles and books cluttered to the top of the room. The center laid the main bed, consisting of multiple small blankets and a single large one that humans gave to them. The large one was given to them after three years went by of the couple protecting the property against villainous beings. Additionally, for finally settling in one of the favorite spots the family of humans had. Time to time their son would come over for a visit, but now his peace was promised since scavengers and the like didn’t visit anymore. The small skylight soaked Andromeda's fur in moonlight as she curled up. Scytus curled around her, closing his eyes. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” she whispered.

------ Next Day

Just as his eyes opened, Alaska blocked his view. “Mommy said she was going to kill a dragon later!”

“A dragon?” Scytus responded. He got onto all fours again, lowering his head for Alaska to climb onto.

“Yeah! She said I was going to get some scales too…” she gave a toothy smile.

“I'm sure you will. I call the wings though! I could make some fake wings from them you know? Or even your mother…” he reached the main room with Andromeda.

“Well hello there Alaska!” she exclaimed. The small flying snowflakes attempted to fly onto Andromeda screaming mommy. Alaska lived having no idea she was adopted, and it wasn't something they planned on telling her until they were older. They assumed Alaska when older would want to go to discover them on a long journey.

“I think she likes you,” Scytus teased. Alaska turned to look at him, opening her mouth to randomly screech with a smile. “The hell?” he exclaimed.

“Daddy!”

“Okay… new topic.”

“Did you eat the rat?” Andromeda asked.

“The rat…? No!” Alaska spoke with shock.

“Alaska…” She responded.

“I DID!”

“Who was that?” Scytus responded. “Oh… Nathaniel.”

“Okay so he lied to us Scytus.”

“Ya!” Alaska responded with confusion.

“Mama, about the dragon…” Alaska continued.

“Yes?” she responded. Personal work + 1 Added Reos + 2 Land Bonus + 1 2727 words + 27 Total = 31

Reos Winter Holiday Event 2019 1) As the winter months approach, every continent seems to get drenched in snow. Some more than the others, obviously. Draw or Write about your Reosean seeing or just generally experiencing snow for the first time. https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/824348631/4812523912

Already we were to an awkward start. Andromeda has never actually seen snow before and nether has Scytus so he decided to treat them both to seeing Roenden. They were still quite young, managing to live together in Warrenfall. Recently the boat just let them off and to see Roenden which Andromeda was uncomfortable from how much snow there actually was. "Why is there so much Scytus?" She asked him. He was standing next to her making sure no one would harm her since he knew they could stick out sometimes. Especially when they looked like a family, it was a little awkward.

"Because of the fact it's Roenden. What did you expect?" Roenden did show a lot of things it promised, though. Andromeda didn't even wait to point out the glorious mountains it had. Scytus already noticed how much snow there actually was, which shocked him. Andromeda, being uncomfortable at first, completely was shocked as well but embraced it shortly after. It was going to be a good day.

"I expected it to be warmer... Luckily my coat can manage it!" she exclaimed. Andromeda seemed to warm up quickly to the area, excited to see it snow. Stranded pieces of snowflakes fell from the sky, but it was fairly rare. At least they knew that snow was coming.

"It should snow soon. Don't worry. Normally It'll always snow and since it's actually winter currently... Christmas in fact, there will be lots of that. For now, I rented out a small place for us to stay. In town. There's normally vayrons there waiting for us,'' Scytus told her. She was sitting there now, in the snow, beginning to roll in it. Before he got into the snow and rolled with her, he tried to get used to the cold touch that the snow gave. "Brrrr!"

Andromeda looked at him as her back was in the snow, "It feels kind of like a blanket. You know that?" Noises of crunchiness were heard from both Andromeda and Scytus.

"Not quite. Feels more... cold," he responded before laying down in the snow. Small little snow angles formed in the snow, some having an odd face and even paws. Since they weren't too far off from where people were boarding the boat, some humans would laugh at them and make odd faces when they saw them playing. Younger vayrons seemed to be excited when they saw Andromedas and Scytus's expression, hopping into the snow around them before either their parents or human trainers called them over. Andromeda was adorable when she played, Scytus wondering if she found him adorable.

"So... I see it!" Claimed Andromeda as she saw snowflakes falling. "I’m really happy I got to see proper snow for the first time. Same with you I’m sure."

"Duh," Scytus responded. Andromeda and he watched the snowflakes fall. Like cold balls of cotton, they fell from the sky. It always amazes them how they were formed. For Scytus, it's mainly why they look the way they do. Not even a couple minutes later and they were in larger clumps falling. As if they were trying to bury Andromeda and Scytus, they got up from the snow. Bits of snow were stuck in their pelts and while Scytus shook them off, Andromeda allowed them to melt in her pelt.

"Before we get buried, let's go see that home you rented out. I’m quite curious!"

"Then let's go. I do want to say one thing though, I’d love to play more in the snow tomorrow with you. It's so fun just being with you," Scytus responded.

Leading the way Scytus told Andromeda to follow. They weren't too far off from the village they were heading to, so Andromeda would play in the snow along the way trying to examine the crunching noises her paws created. Getting closer to him, they continued to walk for a couple of minutes until they reached the village which had numerous houses all topped with snow. Candles were glowing through windows with people outside hugging friends and family, including vayrons. Some were just chatting and hanging up decorations as well.

The City was Roenden laid in a well so that the cold temperatures of this northern region would at least not be intensified by the strong wind gusts coming from the northern mountainsides. But nonetheless, it was freezing cold outside, so they noticed how the only people outside were ones actually having to work or greeting family members from the newly arrived ship, who all would get back inside as soon as possible.

“Look, Andromeda, isn’t it interesting how many of the houses are connected? I bet they did that so they don’t need to go outside to visit their neighbors,” Scytus noticed this city’s specialty that had been created due to even Vayron’s with their thick fur starting to freeze in these lands.

Soon the Duo arrived at a small inn, which was only marked by an old, rusty sign swinging loosely on a pole sticking out from above the door.

“This should be it,” Scytus pointed out and leaned against the door. “Let’s see if somebody is there to greet us!”

In fact, they found themselves in something that looked like a little living room, with a desk on which a human was sitting and a fireplace that created a warmth that would flow around them soon. Scytus and Andromeda were excited to start the next day playing in the snow. Personal work + 1 Added Reos + 2 Hunting + 1 Event Bonus +3 910 words + 9 Total = 16
