There's nothing to do here, Peony thought to himself, tapping buttons on his joycon, I thought staying at a hotel would be fun..

His eyes were starting to hurt a bit, he'd been playing games on the couch all night. There wasn't anything else to do, and he felt exhausted - but sleeping was no fun. He wanted to experience this, even if it was terribly boring. It was far too cold out for a walk. The game stopped; once again, the wifi had shut off. Sighing, he turned to his boyfriend, " Wifi's out again, so annoying."

" Why don't you read a book? I brought a few," the florian was sitting at the edge of his bed, his legs crossed. Today he'd worn something different, per Peony's request; a tank top! It took a tad of pleading, but it was worth seeing him out of his suit.

He doesn't even look tired - how!? We've been out all day!

Peony frowned, " That's boring.. "

Viscare shrugged, turning a page, " I find it entertaining, sometimes."

" Uhmm - oh hey, wifi's back!" Peony announced jovially. He went back to staring at the screen, but after a few minutes - the screen went dark, " What the - nooo! Now I really have nothing to do!" he sighed, sliding the controller onto the small glass table in front of him.

The other huffed with annoyance, " You'll find something to do."

" There's nothing! Might as well sleep since we can't do anything else -"

" I'm still reading," Viscare interjected, lighting a candle and sitting it on the table at his bedside.

Peony's ears twitched with dismay, " Oh."

I was ready to sleep..

" You can go to sleep though," Viscare said as if he was reading the other's mind.

" It's fine, I'll wait for you."

There was a long pause of silence. Peony stared at the ceiling, letting his mind wander. This was awful. So bored. Too tired. What's he reading?

" Hey Viscare, do you think it'll be back up soon?"

" I don't know, it'll probably be back tomorrow morning."

Peony groaned, " That's so far away! It's so boring here."

" Yeah, because you keep thinking about it. Just do something quiet and relax, or sleep. Please," Viscare was growing agitated.

" Sorry, I'll just sit here.. bored.. I hate hotels," he concluded - and the room fell into silence, void the occasional fluttering of pages.

The ceiling wasn't even smooth, it had some strange splotchy texture. Peony thought it was ugly, resembled leaves, or veins. Did they call it that? Vein ceiling? Doesn't sound very appealing.

" What page are you on, Vee?"

" Peony, please," Viscare exhaled, pressing a paw against his forehead, " Would you stop talking if I read it out loud?"

The other leered, " I might.. "

" Well?"

Peony scrambled to the other's side, falling onto his bed, " Aw, your bed's softer than mine."

He ruffled the other's hair, snorting, " My god, we'll share then."

" Sounds good to me!" he beamed, wrapping an arm around Viscare's, " Alright, alright, reading time."

Peony didn't have a clue what was happening in the story, but he was at ease hearing his boyfriend's voice beside him.

Your voice is so cute, was Peony's last comprehensible thought before his weary eyes shut, and he drifted into a deep sleep. Although aware the other was asleep against him, Viscare finished the page out loud. He dropped the book into a drawer, and grabbed Peony underneath his arms, dragging him up to a pillow. He shifted in his sleep, wrapping an arm around Viscare's torso with a smile. Viscare grinned back, kissing his head, " Goodnight Peony, love you," he murmured, coddling him as he gradually fell into slumber.
