Monday Morning

Nina wakes up on Monday morning, turns the alarm off and gives a kiss to the picture of Ray she keeps under her pillow. She gets up, brushes the dust off a framed picture of him on the table, looks at it lovingly for a few seconds and goes to the bathroom. While brushing her teeth, she draws little faces with glasses and medical masks on the mirror. The soap on the sink is the same he's been using for the past week. She puts bandaids on her scratched cheeks and ties up her hair in twintails. She goes back to her room, gets dressed, checks her bag and whether Ray's stolen ID is still there in the hidden pocket. She goes to the kitchen, makes breakfast and eats in an empty room, pretending that she and Ray are eating together and trying to feed him. She walks out of the house, locks the door and runs to school. She can't wait to see him today.
