THIS DRABBLE ROTTED IN MY NOTES FOR YEARS AND NOW THAT I FINALLY UPLOADED MARIE, I CAN ALSO PUT THIS UP LMAO (i know Atropos' sisters have names but I didn't want it to coincide with a future episode of them appearing just in case so I made it purposely vague lmao)

Also spoilers for certain character's deaths (but at this point, it's a late arrival spoiler)

Title is from My Apologies, by The Hush Sound

"So... I—"

"Well, yes." A sardonic smile makes its way onto Atropos' sister, as she continues her exposition. "The Apocalypse in the making may have been derailed, but certainly not the preparations done to it. You were tasked to fill in for extra insurance... That annoying seraph, Zacharaiah was it, was tasked to administer a curse so to speak." Marie's eyes stared in horror as the eternal being calmly continued.

"So, of course your fate must be settled without... additional nuances in the way. In a way that your tiny human brain could compute, those pests you oh so dearly 'loved' were roadblocks. You being with them served no purpose, not when you have the Virgin Mary's soul." The being smiled, enjoying the grand revelation slowly unwrapping before her. Let it be known that beings of fate have such a huge turn on for dramatic flairs.

"There was ever only two choices for you. It was either Sam or Dean, Lucifer or Michael, the next Messiah or the next Beast. Just as your brothers were tools for the grand apocalypse, you were simple but just another pawn in this long game—"

"I-Is that what they were to you?!" Cold fury and horrible realization dawned onto the honorary Winchester as she nearly spat out the next words in disgust.

"Aaron... Markus... Lloyd..." Tears dropped at the sinking feeling pooling beneath her as she stuttered out the next two names.

"... Balthazar... Mick..."

"Yes," Suddenly, the being of Fate dropped the facade, their eyes turning cold and steely. "Those poor unfortunate lads, caught up in the edges of something far, far beyond them."

Stepping near her crumpled form, the sister whispered near the hunter's ear, "Atropos knew, you know? When that blasted angel held her at knife point, she struggled not to laugh at that poor angel, knowing how his fate ends when the pining continued." Their flowing dress rippled from the cold breeze of the night as their final words echoed within the poor hunter's head.

"Balthazar was never meant to live... And so did all those you have loved."

The entity vanished, as shouts from Marie's other hunter companions filled the barnyard.
