“I got some fantastic photos today! I can’t wait to get home and upload them.”

Knowing her luck, Cupcake would trip and shatter her camera again. She had already put a spare SIM card in the camera this morning. Now she had a better idea of what paranormal creatures lurked in the woods. Pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose, the sheep flicked through her photos of the forest as her legs walked autonomously to their cabin in the woods.

It was a cozy building. The lights twinkled through the windows. The whole thing was more serene than anything Cupcake experienced before waking up in the realm of Space and Forests. She stowed her camera away in its carry-case so that if her girlfriend pounced on her, the poor piece of technology would have less of a chance to be crushed.Calliope had no concept of personal space when it came to the sheep.

“Cal! I’m home. Sorry I’m late! I hope you didn’t stay up too late waiting for me.” Cupcake called out into the darkness, fumbling in the pocket of her jacket for the keys.

“Cal?” Silence.

Hmmn. She must be asleep already. I don’t blame her. I didn’t mean to get lost. I’ll tell her in the morning. I hope she left me some food this time. She said she was going shopping before I left.

The moon was full. Illuminating her path. Cupcake shrugged, reaching for the doorknob.

Her breath hitched as an enormous shadow fell over her. Her spine went ridged in an instant. She whipped around to be nose to nose with her girlfriend. Golden tusks the height of her entire head. Suddenly the first thing she noticed rather than one of the last. Calliope was hunched over. Her hair flying wild as she lent in to steal a kiss from the smaller female.

“Cal? You scared me. What are you doing out here? Aren’t you…” Cupcake looked around with wide eyes. She was trying to find an excuse, but her heart pounded too loudly for her to hear her thoughts. She picked at her own fingers, nervously. “C-cold? Hun-hungry? Um...ti-tired?”

The terrifyingly larger female continued to ignore her spluttering. Kissing and licking her hair, cheeks and neck with growing intensity. Cupcake backed into the door. There was no escaping Calliope. Her girlfriend wasn’t hurting her, but such affection was not normal. The nearest help was a scattering of small towns in the vast forest. In this state, she couldn't remember which direction they were. Not that anyone could help her against a demigoddess without fainting.

Cupcake realized that Calliope was not herself. The freckles on her cheeks sparkling like constellations in the moonlight.

“What’s the matter, Cal? D-do you have a fever?”

Her back jammed against the door. One hand fumbling blindly for the doorknob while the larger female breathed heavily on her. The same ravenous gleam in her eyes as when she burned the forest.

“S-stop!” Cupcake started to become very afraid of having such large teeth pressed close to her frail body.

“Cal. Let me inside. I’m f-f-freezing! I have lots of photos to upload to my computer. I know I was late getting home, but I’ll apologize later. I didn’t mean to be so late.”

Calliope ignored the sheep and proceeded to pin her hands above her head. Continuing to mark her cheeks, hair and neck with her lips and her long, forked tongue.

“Hey! Th-this isn’t funny anymore, Cal. You’re going to crush my camera this rate.” Cupcake bleated, struggling to rear up on her tippy toes to push her girlfriend’s snout away. At first she was worried about hurting her girlfriend, but it was not like she could hurt the demi goddess, even if she wanted to.

This reaction warranted a pouty growl from Calliope, who begrudgingly backed up, allowing Cupcake to grasp the doorknob. Cupcake threw herself against the door, falling inside onto the carpet. Still pouting, Calliope offered her paw. Cupcake blushed, reaching up to wrap her entire hand around one of the larger female’s fingers. The larger female pulled her to her feet. Cupcake’s knees still knocking together after the way that her girlfriend cornered her. The smaller female fixed her glasses before shrugging out of her jacket. She hung up her camera bag next to her jacket. She could upload later. For now she needed to apologize for being late.

Cupcake changed her clothes with those large, blue eyes staring intently.

“Don’t get so grumpy with me, Cal. I was out in the woods. I lost...I lost track of time.” She smiled. She did not want Calliope to worry about her. “But I got some awesome photos!”

Calliope curled up on the bed to sulk. One paw on her nose. Tricking Cupcake into feeling guilty. Cupcake rolled her eyes. Now she knew how everyone else felt towards Calliope’s grump attitude. The sheep planted her hands on her hips.

“Would a cuddle make your poor, widdle nose fweel better?” She teased. “Gah! What are you!?-” She was cut off by her girlfriend grabbing her by the corner of her shirt. Yanking her over.Used to being a nervous wreck, Cupcake fell comfortably into the demi goddess's embrace.

“You scared me earlier. What’s gotten into you?”

She peered over Calliope’s shoulder, looking for a weird bite or something that would make her girlfriend so protective of losing her. They had plenty of adventures together, but nothing fazed the demigoddess. All she saw was the moon gleaming through an open window. A full moon. Calliope. Space. The pieces fell into place as Calliope put her arms around Cupcake. Closing her eyes, the larger female pressing her forehead against Cupcake’s tiny, pale forehead.

“Cal? Is it...the full moon?”

Now she was thankful that all Calliope wanted was a few extra cuddles and kisses.

In no time Cupcake fell asleep on her girlfriend, no longer afraid. In the morning everything would be fine and they could talk about it.
