you'll never know when we are gone, because the timer lights the front and turns the cricket noises on - each night

It was a late night, almost every house didn't have a single light on. The crickets and frogs were loud enough to hear for miles, but one two-story building could see seen with a bleeding yellow light from the upstairs bedroom window. From outside you can see a big flower-like beast laying on a neatly made bed, Flicking through channels on the television.

He groaned at some of the shows that seemed loud or obnoxious, he didn't look to be in a great mood so it may not be their fault. His wrinkling frown and furrowed brow was evidence enough to support that. Though his expression changed as a mainly black-furred cat entered the room from the bathroom door, looking around at the surroundings as if it were new to him. Something was odd about that cat,, maybe it was his blue and pink paws or maybe it was the long green hose that swirled behind him.

He chuckled with a smile, raising a hand to scratch the back of his head. "Hah, sorry I'm just a bit nervous! Sleeping in a new bed will be weird,, especially after all those years in my old apartment.." The cat laughed again, stepping closer towards the bed. "Mind if I sit beside you, Viscare?" He asked though it seemed he was already on his way to do so with a knee perked up onto the mattress. Viscare turning to him with a less angry frown, though it seemed it might be just his casual expression at the moment. "Sure. Peony, you live here too...you don't need to ask.." He said, sitting up to rest his back on the headboard. Peony did the same besides him, though it looked like he was too nervous to sit super close.

"I know!" He responded quickly, smiling with a nervous curved brow. "It's just I'm not really used to being,, you know- together! All the time!" Peony laughed, his paws fidgeting together and he looked at Viscare as if he was expecting something. Viscare huffed out a chuckle, finally peeking a toothy smile. "Oh, I see." His eyes glancing at the tv and back to Peony, setting the remote to the side and holding out his large arms in an inviting manner. His big paws seemed to be offering a snuggle to Peony, though it looked like he hadn't registered it yet.

"What?" Peony asked confused, smiling with his head cocked. Viscare laughed under his breath in response, finding humor in it with ease. Peony still not getting it looked even more confused, but his reply was cut off by Viscare leaning upwards to grab him by his shoulders pulling him into a tight hug.

Viscare's arms were twined around Peony's back, his claws tucked neatly into their sheath so he wouldn't harm him. Peony looked more than surprised but nonetheless flushed. He blushed and muttered out a reply, "Ah,,, I get it.." He nervously chortled, he felt embarrassed he didn't understand what he meant, maybe a little humored even. It took a minute for Peony to put his own arms around Viscare, his paws creeping around his partner's back.

They laid on the bed arm in arm, though Peony's flustered expression gave away how anxious he was to be this close. Viscare's eyes opened and released a little of the tight grip on him to speak to him face to face, "Why are you so nervous?" He smirked, amused by Peony's flushed response. He gasped, looking like he just got caught robbing a bank. "You, noticed?" A smile pulling his cheeks back after a second,"I-I don't know really,," He began to calm down, still the butterflies in his stomach were aflutter. One of Viscare's paws raising to cup the side of Peony's cheek, his squishy paw pads cradling his head.

"I think it's cute," Viscare began to speak gently, slowly pulling his head closer to his. Now touching Peony's nose to his flat snout, "Though, if we're gonna be living together,, you're gonna have to get used to it." He huffed charismatically, Peony's face immediately flushing red. Though a big smile made way on his face, "Yeah,,, come here big guy!" Peony leaned closer with confidence and set his lips onto Viscare's mouth, the sweet kiss having lasted a few minutes before departing shortly. Even if it was himself who initiated the kiss, he couldn't' help but feel timid about it as he grinned shyly. Viscare was somewhat baffled at it as well, but soon he shook it off.

"..'Big guy'?" Viscare repeated and gave a puff of restrained laughter, Peony starting to chuckle along with him. "It's all I could think of!" Peony laughed giddily, but after a minute their laughing died off. Leaving the two staring at each other with loving gazes, "Viscare?" Peony blushed happily. "Hm?" Viscare curiously hummed while caressing his thumb against Peony's cheek fur. "I think I need another hug before I'm used to it." Peony jokingly asked while sticking out his tongue. Viscare nodding, "Me too, Peony." He smirked as Peony snuggled closer, tucking his head beneath Viscare's chin.

He put his arm back around Peony and rolled onto his side so he could face him, laying on his other arm like a pillow. Softly, he held onto him so he'd be comfortable during the night. Peony tiredly clung to Viscare's side, yawning while he nuzzled closer. "I love you,," He smiled drowsily, Viscare's eyes lazing as Peony's suddenly tired voice began to rub off on him.

"I love you too." He happily muttered, both falling asleep with little worries about what tomorrow would bring.
