Preparing For Travel

A young ring eyed toskal stuck close to his mother, a bundle of nerves and energy and as he watched her plan and pack her things. "Do you think he'll like me? Everyone always thinks I talk to much, and that my ideas are silly... What if he thinks so too?" he squeaked quietly, Minerva giving a small chuckle and looking back to her son, putting down her sack and moving to sit with him, cupping either side of her young pups face. "I'm sure he will love you, just as I do, my Sweet Boy." she told him, pressing her forehead to her tiny pup, even for his young age.

Fitz didn't seem very convinced of that, but gave a small nod anyways, glad for the comfort his mother offered him so easily. Feeling a little sad that she still hadn't found a bondmate. She was a good mother and always did her best. A feirce and strong female.... Odd tastes, he couldn't deny. But she loved her children, and more then anything... As eager as he was to go, he would be sad to leave her on her own if things did go well. He leaned into the touch a moment and let out a sigh, staying there like that with her, tail twitching nervously. "Do you really think he'll like me?" he asked quietly.

She chuckled lightly, fingers sliding soothingly through his mine. "If he is then he'd be the most foolish toskal I've ever met." she assured him. "He may be odd, but I never took him as foolish." she assured him. "In fact he's quite smart, and just might even be able to keep up with you." she told him, making him feel a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry." he told her lightly. "Don't be sorry for thinking of things others might not. It makes you special my dear... and that's a good thing." she promised him, tapping him on the nose playfully. "Use that head of yours, and don't you ever let someone tell you not to, or that you shouldn't. You're so very smart, and so curious. Don't you ever let anyone feel foolish for it or bad for being smarter..." she told him, making him smile some and nod in understanding. "Thank you." he told her quietly. "You're pretty smart too." he murrmured, looking up at her and smailing brightly.

She smiled at that and gave a little chuckle. "Well I'm glad to hear it. Now, go fetch the new water skins and fill them up. We don't want to stop for water more then we must with the mating season coming for crocs." she told him. Fitz nodded leaving to do as she said, scratching at the base of his tiny horns, quiet as he filled them up, still unable to help his nerves. He'd been so excited to finally be old enough to take the trip that would take him to the Black Market and actually meet his father and get more then just letters. And if things went well... Oh! He hoped he liked him in person. And that he really was smart like him. He could ask, and talk about so many things. The simple, the complex... new things... maybe they could even do an experiment together.

He gave a startled cry when he suddenly lurched forward forcefully, splashing into the water in panic, glaring as the other pups giggled as they ran off after pushing him into the water. He sighed some as he waded out of the water, shaking himself off and sending drops of water all over the place, putting the stoppers onto the water skins and with a sigh came back to his mother. "I fell." he explained lamely. His mother just gave a small, disbelieving 'mhm' in return. "Don't take it personally. Pups are always so high energy and a little but of bullies... How did I get so lucky, with such sweet pups." she noted, Fitz shifting some. "Are you sure Rubeus will be okay being left for so long?" he asked, nervous about his brother staying behind. Even if he was older, he was just as shy if less talkative then himself, and unlike himself, he inherited much of hos fathers oddities and was often teased... He was always good to him and listened when he jabbered on... even when he didn't know what he was talking about or couldn't keep up. He worried leaving him behind with the other pups.

Minerva smiled. "He'll be fine. He can take care of himself if he needs to." she assured him. "He'll be looked after by Fenger." she promised, Fitz not looking convinced, but not arguing anymore about it. "I hope so... he's not very good at defending HIMSELF." he noted, smiling some. "No... but he can only take so much.. and well... if anyone really hurt either of you...." she reached out and put a hand to his cheek. "They had best beg the moon to help them because nothing else will." she promised, making Fitz laugh a little, believing it.

The two soon started going back to packing, Fitz' head filling with all sorts of different results of the meeting. Both good and horribly, horribly wrong ones. Making him worry all over again. But in the end, he couldn't wait anymore. Looking over everything when it was all finally packed... he couldn't wait any longer he knew and it was time to prepare for the long trip to the Black Market to meet his father. Coming out with his mother and smiling at his brother who stood in silence, smiling to his far smaller little bother. The two sharing a moment. "Be careful, Fitz." Rubeus told him. "You're smart, but you can be a little clumsy and reckless... don't break anything." he teased, making Fitz huff and nudge him playfully. "One to talk." he teased lightly. "Don't let the others tease you." he insisted, putting his arms around Rubeus and giving him a tight hug. "I'll miss you the most." he told him, looking up at him and grinning. "I'll see you later." he promised, giving a nod.

It was with that they left, Fitz fretting as usual. Unable to help it. But still excited none the less. Hoping against hope that his father... Richard would like him and approve.. if only a little.
