Cheesecake. A rich delight; rich flavor, the rich meaning behind it. Vanilla cheesecake. That was Darling’s absolute favorite. Nanachi knew this all too well. Darling was her patient; one that she talked with frequently. They were her lover in fact; and since this was so, why not surprise them with something sweet?

The nurse licked her finger and flipped through a sweet treat recipe book. “Vanilla bean cookies, vanilla bean ice cream.. Aha!” She exclaimed as she flipped the page. “Vanilla cheesecake! Let’s see here..” she murmured as she skimmed through the recipe laid out on the page. “2 cups of graham cracker crumbs, one-half cup of butter..” She checked off the ingredients as she listed them off, looking to make sure she had everything. “And we’re all good!”

The bubbly nurse hummed a random pop song as she preheated the oven to 325 degrees; grabbing the graham crackers, and crushing them between her palms, sprinkling them out onto a baking sheet. Cutting up the butter and measuring the sugar, she pulled out a medium-sized mixing bowl. “Mm mm hmm~” she swayed her hips a bit as she mixed everything together; pouring and pressing it all into a greased springform pan.

All the while Nanachi was baking, Darling was laying on a hospital bed, outstretched, bored, and in lack of proper attention. They had the biggest pout on their face, and their arms were crossed over their chest. The nurse would normally be here right now, and Darling knew that. “Nanaaaa!” they wailed, sounding like a child begging their mother for a toy. No response. Just silence. Darling rubbed their temple. “C’mon Nanaa.. Where are youuu? ...” Still silent. “You know I hate being aloneee..!”

“Cream cheese and sugar,” Nanachi spoke to herself as she poured both ingredients into another large bowl, beating them together and eventually adding vanilla, salt, and eggs into the mixture. “Da da da hmm~” he cooed to herself as she vigorously beat everything together, pouring it out into the springform pan afterward. As soon as the oven was ready, Nanachi slipped the uncooked sweet treat in, closing the door, and setting the timer to an hour. Letting out a satisfied sigh, the nurse sat by the oven and patiently waited with her hands in her lap, quietly singing loads of pop songs to help pass the time.

Darling, however, was less than pleased about being alone. Running their hand through their two-sided hair, they grumbled in annoyance. Where was the pampering? The praising? The fluff couple times they most greatly adored? Nowhere to be seen. While they were absolutely hungering for attention, a part of them was also worried. The nurse had never gone a day without coming to the hospital, and she most certainly never missed spending time with them. But Darling didn’t bother to think of any worst-case scenarios. Nanachi was a toughie for sure, and they knew that. Darling moved their hands down and hugged onto a few pastel-colored plushies that Nana had gotten them within the last few weeks. They smelled just like her. Guess they would have to do for the time being.

Once the oven dinged, Nanachi quietly squealed to herself. Slipping on some oven mitts, she opened it up and pulled out the steaming hot sweet treat. Setting it on the top of the counter, she took a deep whiff, sighing out happily as she was satisfied with the result. Letting the treat sit for a minute, Nanachi dug into her freezer and pulled out some sliced frozen strawberries. Once the cheesecake had properly cooled, she took the strawberries out the bag and placed them on top. Sprinkling them on, with the shape of a heart. Adding some whipped cream, she slipped the rich cake into a dessert container and put a pastel letter with a big pink bow on the top.

Carrying the container in her free hand, Nana checked into the hospital with the other, swaying her hips as she continued to hum, heading up to where darling was residing. Darling was still laid out on the hospital bed, almost half asleep at this point. Bored out of their mind, and starved without affection. But Nanachi came knocking on their door. “Knock knock! May I come in?~” Nana’s sweet voice cooed from the other side of the door. Darling immediately shot their head up. “Nana?? Yes yes get in here!” they demanded.

Nana opened the door and slipped in, moving the container behind her back. “Hey Hey dearie!~” she cooed at Darling sweetly. Darling wasn’t really having it. “Where have you been? You should have gotten here hours ago.” The patient grumbled. Nanachi walked up to her patient's hospital bed. “Aww I’m sorry Darling.. I was making a little something.” Darling cocked a brow. “And what is it you were making exactly?” They asked, crossing their arms.

Nanachi looked behind them, then back to Darling. “Juuuust a sweet little something that you haven’t had in a while.” The nurse pulled out the container and placed it on Darling’s lap. “Surprise!!~” “You made a container?” The patient gawked at her. “No no.. read the letter first.” Darling just shrugged and picked up the tied letter that rested on the top of the container, lightly pulling the bow apart.

“For Darling, my dearest love and favorite patient; here is a sweet little homemade something I whipped up for you. Love, your nurse Nana~”

Setting the letter down, Darling opened up the container. Letting out a loud gasp, their eyes almost turned to stars. “Vanilla cheesecake!” Darling purred out as they eyed the sweet treat. Nana lightly giggled at her lover’s reaction. “Of course! It’s your favorite food is it not?~” she asked in a sing-songy tone. “It is!” Darling screeched, feeling a rush of energy and satisfaction since they were finally being treated.

Nana pulled out a clean fork and handed it to her patient. “Here you are my darling” Darling eagerly but gently snatched the fork from Nana’s hand, and immediately took a bite, practically melting at the richness of the texture and the sweet flavor. “M-Mmm oh yes~” Darling purred, taking a few more bites before turning to the nurse. “Get over here you~” Darling outstretched an arm for Nana, and awaited her to sit beside them. Nana obliged, and sat down on the hospital bed, snuggling up to Darling's side. The nurse wrapped their arms around the patient’s neck and waist, mumbling happily. Darling kept their free arm around Nana’s body as they continued to eat, letting her have a few bites every so often.

“Mm, I love youuu~” Nana purred, peppering their lover’s cheeks in soft, butterfly-like kisses. Ohh how Darling ate it all up. Being surrounded by pastel plushies, eating a homemade vanilla cheesecake, and having their nurse peppering them with love and affection. “Love you too..” the muffled out, still chewing a bite of the cheesecake.

Once the two finished up the treat, Darling set the empty container aside, resting one hand on the stomach, and the other on Nana’s shoulder. Nana tucked her legs up to her chest and snuggled herself in even closer to her beloved patient. “This is nice..” she whispered. Darling silently agreed. “You should cook for me more often.” They looked down at the nurse and smiled. Nana laughed. “Sure hon. Sure.”
