VOIDS:

'voids' is what magic is called in this universe. it takes a very specific series of hits to the brain to work. most people when learning their void don't understand why they've awoken a void and just think its something latent thats appeared randomly. 

to awaken a void, you have to hit the front of your head, the same spot on the back of your head, then the front of your head again, all very hard, in the span of 30 seconds. it's kinda cartoonish to see. the mixture of bonks to the head jumbles up the atoms making up your brain and will form a different kind of brain. 

new brain emits a black light which will seep through the persons eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. the light also makes the user go blind, as the eye organs don't understand what to do when light's coming in from behind them. users can toggle their brain light on and off, but it's very startling at first. with training, a person can force the light to only go through their eyes, but it won't work if they try to force it through any other part of the body.

when the light is emitting, the user gains a supernatural ability which is honestly randomly chosen by how the brain got jumbled. sometimes, like in lucas or mary's cases, the void fits them very well. most of the time, it clashes with the users personality, like in syzygy's case.

HALF VOIDS:

half voids are when the user only channels half of their brains power. typically, this is just a weaker variant of the main void, or just something in the same ballpark as the main void. half voids are usually much weaker and induce headaches after a while, kind of like when you suck your gut in for some time and you just have to let it go. 

when a user is using a half void, they can channel the light through only one of their eyes, which allows them to see.

half voids are only able to be realized after the user has mastered their main void.
