Niko Meets the Beetle
A poem about Niko meeting a new friend!
Oh, what’s this that I have seen,
that scuttles quickly through the green?
With eyes so big and black,
it must be searching for a snack!
I kept my distance for a while,
and followed it for half a mile
before it finally noticed me,
and instantly began to flee!
“Wait up!” I called and ran,
(without any sort of plan)
And in my haste I didn’t see
that I was headed towards a tree!
Thankfully before disaster,
the strange creature acted faster,
and flew back straight towards my face
saving me from great disgrace!
“Watch out!” it chirped before me,
right before I hit the fir tree,
and I scrambled to a stop,
hitting the dirt with quite a plop!
“That was close!” I huffed and saw,
that it was not so strange at all–
it was but a green fruit beetle,
watching me and looking gleeful!
“That was fun!” it suddenly said,
as it sat upon my head.
“I think I’ll keep you as a pet,
it’s a good thing that we met!”
Though disturbed as I was by its word choice,
and the buzzing of its bug voice,
I suppose it’d do no harm
to put on a little charm!
So together we walked home,
and I no longer live alone,
but if you ask, I will contest,
that I'm the pet of this green pest!
