Week 2: The Hunt

An Igalyph dives into the water, swimming westward.

It doesn't know where it's headed, only that it needs to find someone. A friend. He had told it that he was going to help people, so he wouldn't visit for a while. Which was fine. It thinks. But its friend had been gone for a while. It hadn't known how many days it's been, but it had started experiencing...certain emotions. So it had decided it didn't want to wait any longer. Therefore, it had left its under-continent burrow and had begun traveling towards the southwest, the direction it had seen its friend leave in. The semiaquatic being had crossed many lands and waters in its search, ignoring all the stares and whispers that had been directed at it. The Igalyph's friend had always smiled at its actions, saying it had a "one-track mind" and could "ignore anything."

But that isn't true. It could never ignore its friend.

Though speaking of ignoring, the only reason it had responded to the white creature that had shouted at it was that she had called it "Igalyph." Its friend used to call out to it like that before he gave it a name. Sereia. It tries its best to respond to that name because it makes its friend smile. It'd only responded to its species name at that moment because it had made it remember the past, which it didn't recall often.

Sereia peers at the small antecedent — A Nudinym? It could never remember. — as she speaks. It has a hard time with the common language, but it recognizes "help" and a question. Is she asking it if it needs help? Maybe. So it nods. However, her next statements are indecipherable strings of words. So the Igalyph merely stares at her and does nothing. After a bit more rambling, she ends up pouring something strange onto its head. It supposes it could be dangerous, but it doesn't sense any ill intent from her. Its receptors twitch in response to the unknown liquid, but Sereia lets it happen, hoping that will satisfy her. Maybe this is the help she was offering? Finally, the Nudinym waves her hand at it. Is she telling it to leave? It waits for a moment, seeing if she will do anything else. She doesn't. So it swims away.

It still doesn't know where it's going or how long it's been. It does, however, feel tingly all over as it swims. Is this because of what the Nudinym gave it? Sereia is momentarily distracted by the sensations and bumps into something in the water. It looks up to find a wooden structure slightly submerged but mostly floating on the surface of the water.

A boat? Would its friend be on that boat?

Without hesitation, the Igalyph shoots out of the water and onto the deck, landing with a thud. It shakes the water from its long locks before it suddenly finds a rapier pointed at its face.

"What's this?" a deep voice drawls, "A Siircio?"
