I am a princess, Rosabella tells herself, shouldn't I be valued at wartime?

There is an all to familiar knock at the door. She doesn't bother moving or replying as his highnesses butler steps into her royal bedroom.

"Princess, it is time for dinner and his highness requests your presence." He says right after clicking his heels together to make up the proper butler stance when addressing royalty.

Rosabella kicks at the floor. "I'm not hungry," she replies with no attempt of being rude.

"It was his majesties wishes that you are to join us this evening."

"Tell him I don't wish to join."

"Princess..." The butler's tone becomes sterner.

Rosabella's head snaps up even though there is nothing for her to see. Her hand twitches before she growls, "Leave me alone."

"Your majesty, you were requested-"

"I said leave me alone!" She yells and her hand raises off of the bed from which she sat, controlling a ribbon with her levitation magic. The ribbon snaps up and hovers in midair.

"But, princess..." The butler still wants to reason with her.

Rosabella gets to her feet, the ribbon flying over to hover in front of the butler. "Father can wish me to be wherever he wants, but I clearly don't matter anyway. I want to be a pawn that is played in this war, but here I sit! Father can pretend all he wants that he still wants me around, but it is very clear to me that I am not a piece of his puzzle. You don't know what it feels like to be one of the highest in the kingdom and no one knows your name!" Her voice than cracks and she moves her raised hand so the ribbon circles around the butler, only very gently squeezing him, but focusing on getting around his neck.

He tries to fight back but his human hands are nothing against the magic of levitation and she gets around her target, his neck.

"I will give you one last chance," she had regained control over her voice. "Tell him I'm not coming, or you don't go yourself."

The Butler turns and leaves, leaving Princess Rosabella to herself for another night of loneliness.
