Rider: Meiron 47
Dragon: Kaoiwyth 241B

The heat lingered, the warmth of the mid season sun blazing down through the opening in the roof of the cenote, the haze muggying in its intensity once again, all other dragons other than those with fire heritage had retreated for the cooler caverns of the cenote, gaining some relief in the shadows of the earth... of course the fire dragons thrived, absorbing the rays with abandon, Tyna and Hearth especially were sprawled out in the sands, even the cool waters of the lake was warm... though Kuro refused to let it warm up to much. Meiron though, left them where they were, he'd learned from the previous year, so far there had been far less scuffles....at least amongst his dragons.... Turning from those resting within the Cenote's sheltered grasp, the cat headed outside, where the heat pressed close, his fur slick against his body as he looked up to the clear sky, the constant aggression from Kaoiwyth slowly receeding under the heat of battle. Meiron still didn't know what had caused the 4 winged dragon to lash out at the stranger at the end of 'his' territory, (though Meiron suspected it had something to do with the fact Wyth had been courting). he had managed to get both dragons to agree to a 'battle', to get this 'grudge' out of their systems, before it turned to a true fight. Both dragons had agreed, their hides practicaly glowing with the heat.

A roar sounded, and Meiron looked up as two dark shapes dove past, Wyth's powerful wings closing the distance with ease..... but the interloper had its own skills... such as a greater skill amidst the trees of the surrounding jungle... both, he hoped would restrain themselves and not use fire, the parched trees struggling in the heat a single stray spark would set it alight; Meiron continued to watch, a witness, for he knew a letter was not enough.

Kaoiwyth roared as his prey flitted through the forest, for the other dragon was smaller, instead of following the fire dragon surged skimmed the tree tops, the leaves still green despite the heat... there a flicker of red below, and he knew there was a gap in the forest, his blood humming with the thrill of this 'battle'. Snarling he lunged, the other male yelping as he was forced to fly upwards to avoid Wyth's jaws, it grinned as it passed the dragon vanishing from sight for a moment as it slipped behing the 4 winged dragon as it chased him.

The falcon watched it all, keeping aloft on the warm thermals, the two dragons shadows scaring prey from their hiding places, where they sought refuge from the both the heat and from the immense predators above them; and made them blind to the third predator, the raptor easily diving, avoiding the snapping and lashing dragons with the ease of practice, as once more it's talons struck true. the roars continiued, as the falcon looked up, his crop distended, but this time he flew to the feline that stood nearby, he'd hunted enough.

A dive here,a feint there; a snap and a lash of tail and claw, minor touches, as they two continued at it through the day, slowly though their wings faltered as chests heaved, 'token' attacks as the two males started to flag..... Eventually they spiraled down to where the cat waited, wings touching, the aggression gone... as much as it ever did in two young males, respect for one another apparent as they landed, the grudge gone beneath the respect. "Satisfied?" Meiron asked, noting that both had kept their attacks light. Both nodded, sprawling out as the cat brought them food, the day vanishing into night.... by morning the stranger would be gone, but for now, he could rest, as did Kaiowyth, the felines hand resting on his crest as he dozed... the month was just beginning and Meiron knew there would be more scuffles, the heat becoming too much for many dragons.
