Lark

THIS. WAS. AWESOME.

Not the whole ‘Lapras Being Stuck In A Net And Threatening To Bury The Entire Island In Snow’ thing of course, that was a silly thing to celebrate. This wasn’t Frozen!

It was more the whole ‘Waking Up To Something Exciting And Potentially Heroic’ thing that got the sneasel worked up with excitement.

Lark had woken up to the vicious weather, barely able to see beyond her windowsill for all the snow obscuring her vision. Even with her ice typing, the combination of wind and cold threatened to whip the nose right off her face, but still she ventured out with very little clothing by means of protection and did what any reasonable islander would do in a time of crisis; bang on people’s doors and demand they get off their butts to lend a hand!

Florian

Florian as might be expected had woken up early despite the cold, his shop was thankfully closed. One look outside had revealed a blizzard and the reality that he would likely see no visitors on this day, but still he was working in the back room when a loud knocking could be heard on the shop door. Who could be out in this weather?

Oversized coat, a mess of hair, covered in snow...was that a hobo?  No, no as he came closer it was...well it was a person for sure he could see through the glass of the door. He unlocked the door and held it open to allow them in, it'd be heartless to leave them out in the cold.

Lark

"YOU ANSWERED. Sweet!" Not the most polite sneasel on the block, Lark barged right in, though she had very little intention of lingering.

So she got right to the point.

"Haven't ya been listening to the radio? There's a lapras stuck out there in the ocean! Though the water is kinda frozen right now so it's not so much an ocean but a tundra but anyway point is it's stuck! And we can do something about it!" Behind the lenses of her goggles, Lark's eyes glittered inspiringly. Less inspiring was the puddle of melted snow collecting around her boots.

Florian

The sneasel was a bundle of energy if her excitement at being welcomed in was any indication. "The radio, no I'm afraid I haven't," he said this with some surprise, Florian usually kept relaxed music on while he worked and the news...well Spencer usually filled him in. That certainly did explain the weather though, maybe he should of checked in before coming down to the shop and losing himself in work.

The idea of going out in this weather though, that seemed pretty crazy! Asking a total stranger to go out with you in a blizzard? Even crazier! "You sure you should go back out there," he asked, an eyebrow raised as he looked out the shop door to the blizzard that left everything in grey and white.

Lark

"Well we gotta if we want this weather to go away!"

Lark herself wasn't entirely sure how the weather and the lapras were connected, but the people on the radio had said it and she figured they were experts on this sort of thing. Hopefully recounting it would be argument enough to get the pretty boy out there!

...And man, he was ridiculously pretty. For a single moment, the sneasel was starting to second-guess her insistence lest his beauty be tarnished. Or he gets stuck in a big pile of snow. Or get frostbite. Which could totally happen if they went their own ways. Which meant they had to stick together even more!

Lark nodded to herself, convinced, and balled up her fists and hoped she looked convincing enough.

Florian

Florian still looked uncertain, but after a few moments relaxed a bit and gave a sigh, "I'm guessing you plan to go out there even if I say no, right?" This person kind of reminded him of Spencer, excitable with bold ideas and the gourgeist was usually easy to draw into these plans so the sneasel was no exception. He rolled his eyes, turning and heading to the back, "Let me get my coat, I can't just leave you to your own devices."

The ghost wasn't gone for long, returning in a nice wool coat all buttoned and tied at the waist, a scarf wrapped snugly around his neck and gloves sticking out of his right pocket. He had debated for a moment switching to wool tights so he could add leg warmers, but figured that might be a bit unnecessary. He would be warm as is and once they started doing things out in the cold surely that would provide enough warmth on its own.

Lark

"Yeah, yeah yeah!! Exactly! So go get ready!!" Lark nodded excitedly, confirming exactly that. Even if he phrased it as keeping her out of trouble. As if!

But at least the ridiculously pretty man had confirmed he'd be helping, and with surprisingly little argument. The people at the other houses had been much more resistant. Maybe he was just used to going with the flow. Either way, she already liked him.

"I'm Lark, by the way!"  she said by means of introduction when he returned, extending out a long-clawed hand to him "You look super nice for a blizzard."

Florian

Florian looked at Lark's hand, wondered for a moment if it was really safe to shake hands but shook the thought away in favor of manners. He took their hand, "Florian, I suppose introductions should of been first," he said this with some amusement, taking his hand away and seeming to realize something. "Right a hat," he said this turning to one of his displays and picking out a knit hat matching the color of his scarf and pulling it over his head. He'd of regretted not picking one up later, what with his short hair now.

"Okay, so do you know where these lapras are," he turned to Lark, aiming a question their way.

Lark

Florian! It suited him so well!

"It's nice to meet ya, Flo!"

Lark's grin didn't budge by even a twitch, happy to wait a moment longer, even while her feet rebelled and started to bounce impatiently.

"OKAY YOU'RE READY but yeah! It's out by the sea! I figured if we just went against the wind we'd bump into it!"

Florian

"Hmm, I suppose that makes sense," he muttered, if they really were the source then the wind would lead the way to them of course. "Alright, let's go," he said this, going to the shop door and opening it to let Lark past. If they were quick maybe they could get back before they really had to worry about the cold.

Lark

Lark nearly leapt into the air with how ready she was to tackle this issue!

...Although it seemed a lot easier to do so from indoors.

The second the two of them stepped out, they were met with a wall of snow and cold, practically threatening to topple both the sneasel and the gourgeist over onto their faces.

Were the winds always this bad or were they getting worse??

"UHH FLO?? I'm thinking maybe we should link up!"

Florian

Oh it was worse than it had looked from inside, the cold was immediate and cut through his coat in an instant. He wobbled a bit in the wind, attempting to float and immediately dropping to his feet none too gracefully. When Lark mentioned linking up he looped an arm around hers without a seconds thought, because the sneasel was right and the support would be good if he was forced to walk all the way to the sea.     "Lead the way," he called down to their tiny companion.

Lark

Lead the way he said!

If only navigating wasn't such a challenge! At least the extraordinarily pretty man didn't hesitate to offer his support, and between the two of them leaning against each other, they were not so easily bowed. Lark raised her head a little higher, defiant to mother nature herself, as if to say hit me with the best you got. We've got this!

Mother nature answered her with a face full of snow. Fortunately for the mismatched pair though, winds didn't just carry debris; they carried song. While Lark did her best to wipe her face and clean her ears out from snow, whale song followed the winds, sounding like a faint echo to anyone paying enough mind to it.

Florian

The wind was harsh, it threatened to topple them over and knock them into the snow. Flo even thought the snow might when he looked over to witness a clump of snow being blown right into Lark's face. He felt a little touch of amusement, wondering if they had thought something in their mind to bring on the storms wrath.

"D-do you hear that," he asked, he hasn't missed the slight echoing sounds in the snow. He wondered for a moment if it was just the sound of the wind, his question clearly aimed to get confirmation from the sneasel clinging to his arm.

Lark

"WHAT?" The one ear that she could hear out of had been pinned back against her head. Lark forced it upright, trying to hear for anything else beyond the weather.

"OH. You mean the melodic and kinda sad whale singing??? I thought it was a mermaid!"

Florian

Flo looked at Lark, an eyebrow raised though this reaction might of been lost in the low visibility of the storm. Mermaids making whale song? Seemed a bit more outlandish than it being the thing they were looking for. "It might be the lapras, if this is all from them then the singing could be the source," he offered, even saying this the sound echoed around and didn't seem like it had one direct source so following the sound itself might be tricky.

Lark

"Hang on.." Lark closed her eyes and focused her ear on the sound more. Even while half-deaf, her totem granted her especially sharp hearing capable of pinpointing a sound when it mattered. Had she paid attention to the song earlier, she might have found the poor thing long ago!

"MmmmmMMMMMM THAT WAY!" Whatever they previously lacked in sense of direction, Lark was able to make up for in enthusiasm. Sure of their way now, she tugged at Flo's arm and lead the way.

Florian

Florian wasn't fully convinced of the sneasel's claim of a direction, but he couldn't say he had a better method to seek out the lapras. So, he went along, letting her pull him and keeping an ear out for the sound growing louder. it was hard to tell initially, but the sound did seem to become louder to become more prominent over the winds of the storm. "I think we might be getting close," he sounded relieved, his legs aching from dragging himself through the deep snows on the ground.

Lark

"Sounds like it!" The closer the two of them got, the clearer it was they weren't alone in wanting to aid the trapped beast. While Lark couldn't make out any faces, their silhouettes were fuzzy in the distance. While the sneasel squinted, trying to get a better look at them, snow gave way to ice.

Lark squeaked, and so did her sneakers, as they struggled to find purchase at the sudden change in terrain.

Florian

Lark may of been able to maintain their footing for a moment but the ghost was a different case, his feet when they made contact with the ice sliding and  dragging the sneasel's down with him by their linked arms. "Oof," he landed hard on his butt sliding down onto his back as the air left his lungs.

Lark

"HECK." Were Lark someone else, she would consider this a consequence of friendship. Fortunately, Lark was not someone else, and only saw this fall as a little misstep, albeit a fairly painful misstep.

The sneasel landed on her side, one arm still awkwardly linked with Flo's. Even then, she laughed it off, though her 'hahs' were peppered with little 'ows' in between.

"Well! We found the ocean!"

 Florian

Florian gave a little chuckle at the sneasel's response to them falling, giving a groan as he unwrapped his arm from Lar's and sat up. "We did do that," he admitted, struggling to right himself as his shoes attempted to slip and slide on the ice. Probably not the best shoes for ice in hindsight, but he did managed to find his balance and offered a hand to the sneasel.

Lark

Lark carefully took the offered hand for balance, though she put most of the weight on her own feet so not to drag him down again.

Once on her feet, she hopped twice to check that her balance was guaranteed, and grinned up at the ridiculously pretty man.

"Now all we gotta do is keep going! Hopefully without falling on our faces again but ya know, it happens!" She gave a loud laugh and an even bigger grin "At least it's for a good reason! Ready to keep going?"

Florian

Florian shook his head at the sneasel's overly idealistic behavior, but he answered, "Yeah, let's get going." Squinting through the snow he thought he could see a lapras all on its own with no one to help yet. "How about that one," he pointed in its general direction already taking a few careful steps toward it before Lark could give an answer.

Lark

Florian met no resistance; this is what they were here for after all. And they totally got this. Whale song (and blizzards) is what lead them here! Now all they had to do was figure something out. A trapped animal was trouble until it was calmer, so maybe if they tried speaking its language, it would make their job easier!

Taking cue from a movie she watched some time back, Lark took a breath and yelled;

"WEEEEE'RE heeEEEEEre tooooooooooo HEEEEEEEELP yoooOOOOOOOOOuuuuuu!"
