Rain, I love the rain, how it splashes and how it feels dripping down me. I know I should be in the castle signing papers and settling arguments or whatever they’d have me do. But it’s raining! It hardly ever rains on this side of the planet. Being the king no one can make me stay inside, even if they could I’d just be watching the raindrops race each other down the window while everyone stared. This is better for everyone, in my own private garden, surrounded by roses, watching the stardust flow in the water, glowing ripples as each drop lands. It’s beautiful. I Look up and see tall trees with giant flowers, the petals catching the water inside making a delicious but deadly drink. Thunder crashes overhead and lightning strikes nearby, a dark raven cries out, flying past. The perfect opportunity for villainous vibes. I pull a massive leaf off of a lettuce and wear it like a cape, holding a dead stick like a staff I give my best evil laugh. I am snapped out of this by a voice.
“Um, what are you doing?” It is my younger cousin, Kid. I immediately stop and toss the stick aside, this is the only person who actually thinks I’m cool. “Do you want some?” I take a bite out of the lettuce and force myself to swallow it, it is very spicy. My face is flushed from embarrassment and the lettuce. Kid winkles their nose “Ew no.” and I nod, putting the lettuce on the ground. “So uh… do you want to watch the rain with me?” I ask and Kid just laughs “Jex! It stopped raining over two hours ago!” Now I am even more thoroughly ashamed. I pick up the lettuce and hide behind it, they’ll never think I’m cool again. “So do you want to play some games with me and my friend’s later? Gran says you have to do fancy shmancy kingly duties or something but when you’re done?” Kid asks me, smiling hopefully and I nod. We walk back to the castle together.
