Immortal Food (Master Adventurer)

Whistling as he walked along the unclean looking streets, even in the poorer neighborhood that he considered familiar, Adam was at home and minded not the random loud bangs or yelling that came as they walked. People eyed the two as they headed by, but stayed their distance no matter how curious or squinty they were of the two high schoolers that very much stuck out in the streets of the rough ghettos.

“So peaceful here, a but loud and too many sets of eyes, but so nice...” with sarcasm leaking from his voice, he wrapped his arm around  Rayden as there was some arguing and then what was clearly a gunshot, though he didn’t jump and just rubbed his face against Rayden as they walked. “Hopefully the shopping center isn’t out of that tasty plant, that forever fresh quality seems like a great thing to have. Shame they can’t introduce that into all plants, would make grocery shopping so much easier and less expensive when the kids don't eat through it all.”

He couldn't fault them, he too wasn’t fond of his leafy greens even as a teenager that was considered an adult by his parents. His own diet was filled with junk food and snacks if it wasn’t school lunch or food cooked by or with Rayden when over at his house to tutor him.

“Forever fresh meat would be better.” Rai interjected, nipping at Rayden’s ear as he screeched after, just wanting pets from the antsy other who was ten times more nervous then how Adam looked and felt.

“Oh yeah, sunshine and rainbows galore," Rayden shot back just as sarcastically. Much unlike Adam though, the blond did jump at the loud bang in the distance that he was going to claim was a random firework even though it wasn't anywhere close to the fourth of July. He didn't even try to pull away from that arm that found itself around his shoulders. If anything, he walked a little closer and actually curled his tail around both of their waists. It was thin and long so fit with a comfortable looseness, but it made him feel a little more at ease.

Blinking at the words, he was currently looking around nervously still, trying not to catch anyone's eye while still on obscenely high alert. If it weren't for Adam coming with him when he saw the ad in the paper, Rayden probably would have run back home by now. "What? Oh uh, yeah, real pity." He was sort of answering both of them, reaching up to flail lightly at Rai nibbling on his ear. Feeling those tiny teeth against his skin just made him more fidgety, in the opposite but still wrong way, especially from the dragon. "Knock it off Rai, I'm perfectly fine," He did appreciate the dragon trying at least as he wiggled a finger under their chin. He had left Darkness to wait with the kids while he was out. And to call the police if they didn't come back home by nightfall.

“It’s alright Rayden, I won’t let anything happen to you. Who else would i bother if you just got hurt and vanished from my life?” Trying to ease Rayden back to his more normal state, Adam grinned as Rai enjoyed some if his nice pets, though feeling like it didn’t work how he wanted, at least Adam was paying mind to him now and trying to comfort him in some way, even if the wrong way that left him more upset.

“I think that’s the shop up ahead, there’s some ruffians out front.” Rai pointed out as he climbed to stand on Adam’s head, head bobbing up and down like an animal would do to see more clearly of their target.

“Oh boy... hopefully they’re not too much of a pain. We’ve gotten lucky so far and I haven’t had to stab someone yet. I do hope to keep it that way...” Squinting at the small group of four, he did become a little tense though, holding Rayden closer without those flirty words as they moved closer. This was his blond as far as he was concerned, and he’d keep it safe from all harm even if he was pretty sure Rayden could hold his own in a fight.

Huffing at Adam, Rayden started listing off a whole bunch of people the other could easily bother instead of him. Some of them even being his own friends that had seen him riding back home from the grocery store the other day on the back of his tutor's bike. Little too much information that he didn't need to know about his cycle loving compadres, but whatever. "Yet. What do you mean, you just carry a knife around or was this trip something special?"

Despite trying to chatter idly, the bit of demon in his blood still put him on edge in the dangerous zone. He was pretty sure if anyone suddenly grabbed his shoulder, he was gonna deck them in the face and get the hell out of dodge. Adam going quiet didn't help much, but he did play along too as they passed by a small group by the entrance. Was it bad to hope they jumped someone else before him and Adam would come out? Eeeeh, probably, but that didn't make Rayden wish it any less. Perhaps they could simply grab the plant and find their way out an employees only exit.
