Cruel Toxicity

A beautiful, beautiful baby. Our baby. I was crying, overflowing with joy, a smile painted to my face, Baylion by my side, and our just hatched child in my arms. "Hello little Sero." I spoke in a soft tone filled with excitement. Baylion giggled beside me and kissed my cheek. I poked Sero's small nose and he clung to my right arm, making a small squeak. My left paw was over my mouth to stop my laughs from escaping. "Selonia, I swear you're like a little kid." Baylion remarked to what I did, unable to hide his own laughs. A moment I'll remember forever.

That was almost a year ago. Baylion pulled my blanket up around me and Sero, who was clinging to my arm just like before. "You need to rest Selonia, please." "Darling I'm okay, it wasn't that bad of a fall." That was a lie but I'd say anything to cheer him up, even if it didn't do much at least I tried. He just sighed. It was a few days ago that I took the fall, unable to open my wings, crashing down, all air pushed out from my body with the crash, passing out in seconds flat. In an area filled with biohazard trash of all things. Sero was in my arms, my wings surrounding him like a shield, since I couldn't open them to fly at the time anyway. I took the blow to save Sero, I'll never regret that.

Baylion kissed my forehead while taking our half asleep Sero off my arm, into his own arms gently. "Sleep for me, my love, okay?" I was exhausted along with horribly sore, I'll admit that. Nodding my head as a reply, I pulled him in for a kiss, then spoke, "goodnight Bay, sleep when you can as well." In my usual, soft and caring voice to him, and fell asleep as soon as I closed my eyes.

Baylion held Sero close to him, looking at me, and let a few tears drop. In a mumble, just lightly so only he could hear, he shakily talked to me as I was sleeping, "hang on as long as you can, I know you don't-" He choked on tears with saying it. "I know you don't have tons of years left but hang on for even at least one more year, losing you would ruin me. Stay strong Selonia." His voice cracked in the middle of saying it all. "I'm so sorry." Scared and hurt, he broke down by the bed, crying. Sero woke up fully, making little whimpers and squeaks along with hugging Baylion to get his attention, trying to cheer up his beloved father.
