How to raise a Stygian (How To Li-001)

    So much like you or I, a Stygian is born, for  the sake of clarity we’ll keep using that term. To start with, let's  address that this is a bit of a misnomer, they are not born to parents  they are born to the nightmare tree--or there are some that, well  frankly I lack the explanation for. Now I know I had just said, about it  being a birth, it technically is in that it only enters the world with   instincts and primal drive to help it find its way and differentiate  between friend, foe, and food. This includes you, which matters later.

    Right,  so now that you have the most basic of ideas where they come from we  need to talk about “befriending” one if you can ever truly befriend a  creature of the nightmare. While I would like to say there is some, sure  fire way to do this the truth is they pick you more than you pick them,  you can help the process along but this is a risk much as trying to  rush a friendship would be. And frankly, you should think of them as  friends before you think of them as much else, they are the incarnations  of the things we fear most but this doesn't make them innately evil.  Quite the opposite actually it lends them a human-element, so still be  wary, but allow them to  become friends if nothing else. 

    Right  now with that clarification out of the way, let's talk about how you  can actually get to befriend them. So much as you can get someone to  like you more as a friend by how you act, this Stygian are the same way,  it can safely be said that each gravitates to a particular type of  person--or rather the person who would be best paired with them. So  don’t try to befriend one using false intentions or false prefaces,  you’ll end up with at best a hurt friend when the truth comes to light,  at worst an enemy or a being that has a particular distaste for you.
