Sci-fi Li-001

     In the year 3031, all of life on earth, even throughout  oceans depths has been discovered and documented. Not a single stone  un-turned or a creature un-examined. It is time now for the Stygian race  to finally take on their biggest challenge; Space, the nightmare  frontier. Introducing Nebula, from birth they just knew they were  destined for the stars. Could it possibly be the name? Or perhaps the  stars along the unusual Stygian’s body?
     For cool colored fur  they have a very fiery personality that managed to place them in the  captain's chair of a new spaceship, the “Branch” for extending on past  the roots reach just as they are doing leaving earth. The start of the  trip began easily enough, but pretty soon they discovered it wouldn’t be  as boring as they expected. Now, as far as the “new” captain's looks  go, you could almost always find a smug grin across his face and  something in his hand, whether it be a communicator or a laser pistol.  Another peculiar thing about this ship was that they seemed to allow  more than just typical Stygian aboard to test how other species react  when faced with this new environment, even a certain one has taken a  liking to Nebula.
    This  “daydream” that became rather fond of the newly recruited commander and  would stay by their side most of the ships day, though it never quite  seemed to fully interact, always sleeping beside the captain just out of  reach or backing off when about to be touched just to come back a few  moments later to either lay down or rub up against someone’s leg. Acting  very catty, though Nebula didn’t mind this as they were never in the  way, the only thing that seemed to bother them was that they never  wanted petting on his own terms.
