Chapter 2

Whistling as he walked along the stone brick path, Zoren was happily pretending to be Dorothy making her way down the yellow brick lane. Of course, it wasn't actually yellow, as Mytos was clip clopping alongside him pointed out. That was a very minor detail he ignored for the moment. "Don't be such a stick in the mud old buddy~!" Rolling the eye in his chest, the dragon trotted forward to bump his nose against his rider's shoulder in a playful manner. Pushing back, they played a game of trying to unbalance each other as they went for a while. Something Zoren had a clear disadvantage of given the horse's six legs, but that was fine. It kept him in practice. On his toes, quite literally.

As they were going along the path however, they came across a rather peculiar thing. A ball, in the middle of the road... just floating there. Looking at one another, Mytos shook his head, already knowing what his rider wanted to do given their naturally curious nature. "You don't know what it is," they huffed, only getting that sweet, innocent smile back. "Exactly, so why not!" he chuckled, reaching out to poke at the thing.

Humming as Kri was holding Lykos and rocking him back and forth, the fallen celestial being was in a more peaceful mood. One of his favorite creations had finally come and found him, a simple being that had long ago taken a liking to him. It took it a while to slowly descend from where he came from but now, it had arrived.

Caressing the dark purple called ball that was just floating in the air on it's own free whim, the pair faded from ‘reality’ and reappeared temporarily in the shine of the ball before that too was gone.

Inside there was a small cushion next to a mattress that laid on the floor. Not the most fancy of areas but one suited for the pair that often would lay on the bare and cold ground anyways. Off to the side there was a small kitchen area, mostly suited for food storage currently but if times changed Kri was more than happy to ‘expand’ it. With finally a small ‘living room’ area that was large but empty. Just a bookshelf left on it that was stacked with some books.

“It’s nice!” Lykos told the other, trotting right over to lay on the pillow as Kri agreed, sitting down on the bed before he made himself comfortable, holding out his hand so a book could float to him as he turned open the page.

Today was meant to be a chill day, a day away from their traveling companions that Kri could only take so much of.

It felt like hours that they laid there, soaking up that relaxation time as Lykos explored the ball of space and Kri sat to read. It was a peaceful time, one that Kri didn’t would end any time soon, at least not until night time. Hearing a loud ‘ding dong!’ from a small door that appeared near him, Kri squinted at it as he grabbed the knob, opening it to see that familiar color he was escaping in the moment.

“What are you two doing?”

Jumping as the ball suddenly morphed into a door fit for someone much taller than the magic rabbit, Mytos gave his rider that very obvious 'I told you so' look before closing the eye mouth on his chest. Chuckling nervously, Zoren often lived with his mistakes and went right along with them. This time didn't seem to be much of a mistake though as that grumpy man with the knife pulled open the door to ask what they were doing. "Nice to see you too my fine fellow~!" he greeted in that excitable way of his, "Why, we were just traveling along this well paved road when we noticed this rather curious looking ball right smack dab in the middle. Being the good curious civilians we are, how could we not reach out to touch such a unique device. Then you suddenly appeared!" Flailing out his hands, he gestured to the man in the door he had been casually following around for the pocket watch they had yet to find the owner of. "It's like fate has decided we need to stick together until the owner of the watch is found!" Mytos couldn't help but snort, knowing his rider would have gladly shoved that floating orb in their pocket if it turned out to be safe to touch.

Squinting at the rabbit male that tried to play off his thievery so well, Krites didn’t have the mentality or energy to be a threat as much as he normally would. Sure he could just staaaaaab him, and move on, but that took energy and all he wanted to do was lay down in his bed and read more.

“Who is it?” Lykos asked as he appeared near Krites’s legs, looking up to Zoren and Mytos. “Oh! Hello there!” His tail swished behind him, just excited to see familiar faces. He did blick, looking around to the darkness that had taken over the land. Had they been inside that long? He wasn’t all that sure but the sky said so. “Oh no, it’s late.... Where are you two going to sleep?”

Offering that big bright bunny smile at the other, they didn't look like they were up for fun and games, but Zoren was a peppy sort that was always full of energy. Thankfully that familiar eye covered fox came trotting up as curious as a pup to see who was at the door and break the silence that was stretching out between them. "Hello again!" Mytos bowed their head in greeting, perfectly willing to stay in the background as he preferred. Though often his tail would swoosh back and forth to see the pair in the door. The eye in his chest being closed, but the glowing one on his tail was still able to let him know where he was going and who was around.

"Oh, no need to worry about that!" Zoren exclaimed, pulling his hat off of his head to gesture to it. "We've got our handy dandy home right here. Just need to find somewhere out of the wind to rest so it doesn't get blown away like last time!" Man had that been a doozy. The magical hat was more than just the magician's magic tool. It was his entire home that he could enter. "You wouldn't happen to know soooomewhere out of the wind would you? Somewhere warm, and safe?"

With Lykos being the worried boy he was, Krites rolled his eyes, folding his arms across his chest as the dragon wiggled more into the door to see the strange magic rabbit and his noble steed. He was a bit curious about this magic hat, but he wasn’t about to admit that and let his dragon be the curious one fill of questions like he usually was.

“A magic hat? Is that possible? How does it work?” Leaning up to stand shakily on his back legs, he sniffed at the normal seeming hat before returning to all fours and looked over to Kri who was starting to leave the doorway as he wanted to lay back down. His own den was pacient, but he was not.

“We live in a ball made up of souls that floats as it pleases, a magic hat for the rabbit man doesn’t seem too far fetched.”

“True....” Thinking over where could be spacious and warm and nice, Kri was more than happy to suggest a place. He could have his orb stay around for protection as they were meant to find the owner of the watch but hadn’t made much progress.

“There’s a cave nearby that would be juuuuuust perfect.”

“He could stay in our den too......” Lykos quietly suggested, which he knew Zoren was hinting at but he only squinted at the dragon.

“Maybe.”

Going from pouting to smiling at the suggestions, Zoren casually leaned into the doorway that was no longer blocked by the taller intimidating male. "Aaawe, what if the cave is damp? Or it rains? My poor little home could get filled with water in some dark dank cave. The outside elements have a big influence on it after all, it's only made of cloth!"

Leaning down, Mytos sniffed at the curious dragon with far more eyes than him. It was still hard to see what was directly in front of him however, and he never had gotten a good look at the creature. Given all their multiple eyes, he figured they wouldn't be too surprised if he peeked at them just a little with his largest chest eye. The mouth barely opening as the two colored eye peered at the other dragon. It was a lot longer than he thought it was.

"Besides, if we have a little sleepover of sorts, you can see my special vanishing act into the hat for yourself~ front row seats!"

“Oh the cave was very dry and warm, worry not.” Krites told the other, but his dragon didn’t want to make the ‘nice’ bunny man stay in the cave. And he was far too weak to his dragon’s wants if he felt they were harmless. Which they usually were, he was just sweet and derpy, he was what he was before he was forced to leave what was home. Leaving the door completely, he left it to Lykos to invite them in, not going to say he accepted or disliked it. It was just a thing that was going to happen.

Happy to have what he wanted, Lyko led the others in. Sniffling at Mytos as he looked at him and as suspected was fine with the eye in it’s chest. He after all had so many eyes on him. None in mouths but it couldn’t be that odd if he had lots of them.

“Hello!” He said cheerily, waiting for both to come inside before he closed the door carefully. It shrinking away and vanishing as it came as the orb moved on. THe area inside shifted a bit, growing bigger to adjust for more people as Kri just stood against the wall and let it happen. He didn’t want to be crammed in his home, so he asked for more space and that was what he got.

The eye on his chest staring at that peppy hello, Mytos grinned a bit for once, even going so far as to chuckle. Glad he was correct, the mouth opened the rest of the way so that he could better see where he was going. "Hello again." Following in first as Zoren bowed politely for his dragon, he closed the door behind them, oooing at the growing room. "Snazzy place~ Little simple on the decor, but I think it suits ya." Shooting the other a pair of finger guns, as friendly as he was, he knew better than to stick around too long. Very much knowing the other tolerated his presence thanks to their dragon, Ren was plenty aware that it was time to make himself scarce again.

"Now then, as promised, a disappearing act. Mytos, if you please~" Something he only got to practice on occasion, the hybrid's form melted into his rider's shadow, wishing the smaller one farewell for now. Making sure they were safely attached, the magic rabbit brushed off his hat before tossing it up into the air with a twirl. To which it spun faster and faster as he bowed, "We'll hopefully see you again in the morning!" The hopefully being in case the other yeeted them right out the door as soon as they were inside. The hat expanding briefly to literally swallow the rabbit man whole, it shrank immediately back to its original size. The only think left being a single rose on the ground next to it.

Much like the other rider's home, Ren's den fit to his needs. However, it was always a circle with a large ceiling. Having a full kitchen, bed, couch, and of course television, nothing was plugged in, but everything came to life as soon as he entered the dwelling. Mytos pulled himself from the shadow, shaking himself off as he looked around for his own pile of blankets and pillows that made up his bed. Ren had asked if he wanted a mattress of his own, but he preferred the pile of soft things. "Think we'll be thrown out into the cave when the dragon goes to sleep?" he questioned, a logical sort that had his rider laughing. "Maybe, who knows~" Going towards a dresser to change into his pajamas there were no walls, but he knew his dragon wouldn't have a care in the world even if he decided to start sleeping in his skinnies. Birds of a feather, Ren took life as it came too, he'd just have to find Kri again to continue their watch hunt if they were left behind. "We'll find out tomorrow! Goodnight."
