1: Beginner's Dream

Sitting on her rooftop balcony, Junmei sat and watched the sun set on this cloudy evening. It had been raining early in the morning, but by the afternoon the rain had settled and the clouds started to part ways. Junmei loved to watch the sunset when she could. It was becoming harder as fall fell into winter though, as she was often still busy with work when the sun started falling.

She sighed, resting her face on her palm as she looked over the horizon. The seasons weren't the only thing changing rapidly around here. New buildings have been popping up all over the place. Within the last few years, her previously high rise building was slowly becoming the norm, and her precious skyline was being muddled with new constructions and buildings. This saddened her, as the great sky view was the whole reason she moved to her house in the first place. She didn't want to move anytime soon, but without a sunset to see every night, her reason to stay here was pretty weak.

"Hm, maybe I'll start looking into new cities soon. Maybe something closer to the coast. An ocean view would be nice." She stood up from her chair and stretched, before making her way back inside, closing the glass door behind her.

Her current place wasn't so bad. Small, but cozy. Towers of books filled one corner of the open layout, canvases and a painting easel in another. When the weather was nice she liked to paint the sunset, mixing unique paints for each one. Her neighbours always told her she could sell her paintings, but she never bothered trying. Might not be a bad idea though, it would make more room for her.

A yawn escaped her lips. It was pretty late already, she could think about this more tomorrow. Grabbing a sleeping gown off the floor, she quickly changed out of her day clothes and settled herself in bed. From the confines of her blanket, she looked over her small abode. Some more space would be nice. A separate bedroom, a bathroom, maybe a library? A special painting room would be perfect. A smile crossed her face as she slowly fell asleep, images of her perfect little house dancing around her head.

The first thing Junmei dreamed of was her perfect home. Right on the beach, she lived in the tallest building in town. The sun was just starting to rise, painting the sky with the most vibrant of colours, the bright blue ocean underneath. She sat upon her swinging chair and sipped some tea. The only sound to be heard was the gentle sea breeze and the waves hitting the beach. A perfectly calm moment, Junmei sat back, closed her eyes and took in the sensations around her.

"Child, awaken..."

Her eyes shot open. Everything around her changed in an instant. The ocean sunrise was replaced by blackness, nothingness around her. She doesn't know when, but the sounds of the ocean disappeared completely. She tried to look around to see anything, but all she could see was darkness. Cautiously, she pushed herself off the floor and slowly stood up. When did she end up on the ground? A sound came from behind her, and she turned to see what it was.

In front of her was something her mind couldn't comprehend. It was massive, yet smaller than her. Completely solid, but still see-through. Complete, yet woefully broken. Her mind tried to give it form, make it something she could imagine, when it started to glow. Slowly, the thing in front of her became brighter, and she could start to make out a shape. It was wispy, like a fog over a field in the early morning. Eventually it took shape, a giant glowing morphus, the size of a mountain. It spoke to her, the reverb shaking her to her very core.

"Greetings Child," it spoke to her, its voice ringing loud in her head. "I heard a voice, a powerful gift from your heart. It has lead me to you. I see something bigger... beyond your physical form."

"Beyond my physical form?" She thought, "What on Chigon could that mean?"

"You may wonder what I am and how to call me. I don't have those answers for they were forgotten, lost in the stream of what you call Time. So the Nameless I shall be for you."

The voice continues.

"The magic in your heart has shown me something I have not perceived in so long. And for that, I shall bestow to you a gift. Your heart and soul will be attuned to the magic that flows through this world...but in return, you can never speak of this moment."

"A gift? Wait, what? This is all too much! But it's just a dream right? I mean, it has to be a dream. No way can this be real." She wanted to believe it was a dream, she really did. But something deep inside her knew it wasn't.

"Only the one called Olli will share this secret."

Her surroundings started to fade. She could feel herself waking up. This thing- this Nameless thing was slowly fading away. As the light of the Nameless was slowly replaced by the light of the rising sun, she heard it utter one final phrase.

"Fate will guide you to him in due time…"

Junmei woke up sitting up. Sunlight filtered through her closed blinds onto the floor. She rubbed her forehead, trying to remember what had happened. A dream fades quickly, but the sensations will last much longer. A single name was all she recalled from her experience.

"Olli..."

She gazed out her window, staring into the blue sky ahead. She couldn't remember why, but she knew she had to find this Olli chi, and quickly. Society down below started to buzz as she started planning her quest. Maybe she would look into moving after all.

Hopefully wherever this Olli is has a nice view.

And maybe a beach.
