Decked out in their freshly made costumes, the three youngsters of Queensbreak took to the streets that very night. It wasn’t Samhain night, but word of their adventures into costume making had spread, and Queensbreak was alive with activity.

Feriae had accomplished the feat of looking like a witch, with witch hat specially fitted for her antlers, a cloak, and her margay familiar covered in black paint to look like a witch’s familiar.

Fenrin had a white sheet over his head, his antlers peeking through and holes cut for the eyes. It was multi-layered, flowing around him in an eerie way as he walked.

And Evarinya was probably the most altered of them all. Cyrenne had helped her fashion intricate dragon looking wings that attached to her shoulders, with spikes down her neck and tail. Delicate dragon horns had been added, and true to Feriae’s suggestion, she was covered in glitter.

In the glow lights of Queensbreak at night, the three looked like true creatures of the night.

“Alright, I passed along the word,” Cyrenne said with a smile, looking at the trio. “You know what to do?”

Feriae nodded excitedly, the other two a little less- while it was fun, they had been dragged into Feriae’s scheme not of their own will.

“We knock and say ‘Trick or Treat!’” Feriae said with a grin.

“Yay,” Evarinya muttered a bit sarcastically to Fenrin. While she and Fen had enjoyed making the costumes, Eva was not the most sociable and the thought of visiting everyone seemed like a real trial. Fenrin just wanted to be back in the woods.

Feriae led the way, heading down the streets. Each door brought a smile and compliments about their costumes, and Feriae had a prance in her step, her familiar following a bit behind looking none too pleased to be covered in black paint for Feriae’s amusement. But begrudgingly her companions followed her, and by half way through they were all having some form of fun from their outing.

“Should we uh… knock?” Feriae asked, looking at the door to the castle.

Evarinya looked up at the tall oak door, and shook her head. But to both the girls surprise, it was Fenrin (perhaps ready to be done with the whole thing) who marched forward and rapped his hoof against the door.

The door swung open, and mist poured from the dark gloom beyond.

“This doesn’t look right….” Feriae said, peering into the shadows. “Trick or treat..?” She asked, venturing a step inside.

Little lights seemed to hover in the corners of the darkness, and that gave Feriae strength.

“Come on guys, we got to make sure nothing is wrong,” Feriae said, slowly walking inside. Fenrin and Evarinya followed, Fenrin finally looking excited about something during the long evening of trick or treating, and Eva looking curious.

They headed down the long hall to the ballroom, where indoor events were held.

Pausing, and looking at each other, the three youngsters weren’t sure what to do.

“Trick or treat?”
