Prologue: It's a Bit Barbaric isn't it?

Axinite had been working hard, reading, going over his notes, checking and rechecking the aura, but he wasn't wrong. Some kind of powerful magic was around that.

"HEY AXI!-"

Shit... the bouncy tan stallion nearly pranced into his workshop, running his mouth as usual.

"Meerkek..."

He's really trying to focus, but his assistant won't stop talking.

"And it was positively AWFUL. I was so bored."

"Meerkek."

Will that blasted foalish fool stop running his mouth for one second?

"But I HAD to go, it's a social event, and it's not like I get much of THAT here."

"Meerkek."

He's running out of patience.

"What with your head always in your books and knickknacks. Sometimes I wonder if you ever really need me a-"

"MEERKEK!!"

Blood of the Ancient Mystics THIS THIS-- IMBECILE!!

"Sorry?"

He doesn't sound it, but Axinite lets his fangs retract and settles his magic. Still seething as the chipper voice of his underling only stokes the embers of his annoyance.

"Watcha need boss?"

Meerkek is a good assistant, extremely skilled in spell deciphering despite the lack of a natural magic syphon (requiring the use of an artificial one such as a staff or a wand). The only problem is the flights of fancy and absolute horsing around Kek frequently partakes in. But no matter, there's a job to do.

"Well I could use some help with this relic that came in a few days ago. I'm a little stumped."

"Oh."

Thank The Caldari he left Kek speechless for a few seconds. Of course Axinite rarely admits defeat in such matters, so it is warranted surprise. Without a moment's hesitation. Meerkek is up close and personal with the object of his confusion, a rocking horse. Which may not seem odd to those of you reading, but in a land of equines.

"Rather barbaric isn't it?"

Kek got that right on. Here such a relic is seen as extremely taboo, the main reason why his workshop received the job in the first place, he's the only one who would take her in. As always, Meerkek interupts his boss' train of thought.

"What's it do?"

"She"

"Pardon?"

"The client was Adamant on the use of she."

His gaze wanders over one of his texts,

reviewing a soul entrapment spell in hopes it would match the aura he was seeing. It did not. Damn!

"Why?"

Sigh.... Meerkek. Agitation has long since left him, completely absorbed in solving this puzzle.

"That's what I'm trying to find out."

Maybe it was a demon spell.. if only Kek hadn't set the Scroll of Hytocrates ablaze by accident. He really does need a new copy. Not that they would unsummon Lucifalon Now... he was. Relatively harmless, but the references to demon magic were nigh priceless. Oh well. Meerkek had suffered enough punishment from That fiasco in particular... Now where is his Tome of Mystic Energies by Syliphon?
