Morning Cider

A chilling morning, it’s much too cold to go outside and tend to the farm Bapple has been staying on. It’s rather a good time to clean the farm house, and prepare some food incase of power outages, or snacking nights.

Getting up fairly early has never been one of their strong suits, but from the gentle hum of a heater, and the wisping smell of baked goods, it’s more inviting for sure. They put their little nubs on the wood floor, then quickly retreat back into the blankets. Where were their slippers…? A bit of rustling on the couch, lifting up blankets, catches the attention of their now housemate.
“You left your slippers in the bathroom last night, want me to get em’ buddy?” A familiar voice pierces the question, as Darling goes to fetch those little slippers.

“Thank you..” A quiet and sleepy comment from the half awake paca gets returned with a smile, then back to whatever she was baking.
Coffee is in the pot, all warmed up, and a few muffins from yesterday are out and ready to eat. Bapple doesn’t entirely want coffee though, maybe some cider? They did overhear about all the apples that got harvested before the cold in the neighboring farm. Maybe they can put those to good use!
“Where do you keep your spices?” Darling turns around and thinks for a minute, suddenly getting the memory of where they could be. A few rustles in a cabinet later, and a small pile of spices are supplied. There seems to be anything from a curry spice, to thyme, to cinnamon!
“Thank you! Do you mind if I make some cider using the apples you got the other day?”

“Go right ahead! My mini pies need to bake anyways,” Darling waddles back to the small dining room table, littered with an unfinished puzzle. She might be there a while it seems… she hasn’t been the best at puzzles so far…

She hardly gets any done by herself, so Bapple tends to do puzzles with her to make sure they get finished at all. They’re curious to see if she’ll do any better this time though...

After a few hours of boiling down some apples, and letting the pot whisk up an aroma throughout the whole house, Bapple’s cider still isn’t quite ready yet. ‘This sure is a lot of work for a drink…’ they think, though surely it’ll be worth it in a bit.

Meanwhile, Darling seems to still be stuck on a certain spot in the puzzle. A few times, Bapple has lended a nub and pointed out pieces that go together. But even they aren’t sure how to help now, the puzzle’s colors are so fuzzy and confusing there.
“Maybe try another part for now?” Not wanting to sound annoying or anything, Bapple almost squeaks this out.

“You’re right, i’ve been way too focused on deciphering these smudges here,” Thankfully the other paca doesn’t quite mind. “How’s your cider goin’?” Seeing that they still need a while before it’s ready, Darling motions towards taking over for now. “Don’t you worry, i’ve made plenty before!”
It’s a good thing too, Bapple’s little nubs are tired of standing over that pot! The two of them switch places for a bit, with Bapple now stuck on the fuzzy spot themself. This really is difficult...

After a few more hours, that cider is done with the help of the two of them! And it tastes quite great, going perfectly with all the tiny pies made by Darling!
Eventually the puzzle does get solved… but only because they mutually agree to not count that one spot...
