Warming Morning

Spring was starting to come out of it's shell recently; plants being able to blossom and bloom now, animals climbing out from hibernation. It was so nice having days of sunshine rays and warmer weather, Bapple really appreciated times like this. Even the crops and flowers around the farm agreed, sprouting up like little friendly pals, waving hello in the spring wind.
It was still a little chilly though, so small coats and mittens were worn in the early mornings and late nights. Darling was mostly used to the weather, being here for so many winters and all. But Bapple on the other nub, got chilly so easily nowadays. Being a pampered little paca in the farm house all day sure did change her perception of temperature. And of course slippers as well were worn, when she stayed up a bit too late before heading to bed. Sometimes even a fuzzy wuzzy robe, a kind gift from Darling for helping out so much recently.

It had been several months now, and almost two seasons, since she came upon Darling's farm an autumn afternoon. Now happy that she had ventured so far, and found such a wonderful paca. Whether it be fate or chance, they really enjoyed being here and wondered if their stay was welcome longer even. Surely Darling needed help planting now, right? Maybe she'll ask at breakfast today.

With the warmer weather recently, came warmer smiles and brighter spirits. Being more of a morning person, Bapple's cheery counterpart was usually up bright and early. Darling was ready to get up right away in the morning to make anything from cheese biscuits, to berry pancakes, to carrot cobbler! The last one sounded quite weird at first to Bapple too, but it was actually quite sweet and the carrots turned buttery soft after a while of baking. Although, today's fragrant breeze seemed to be somewhat different.

"Good mornin', Bap!" The cheery welcome echoed from the small kitchen, filled with large cooking pots and oddly a rice cooker. Darling, the gracious paca that had let Bapple stay on the farm with her, mainly made the meals in the house. Breakfast defiantly being hers to work on as well, seeing as Bapple had a habit of waking up late. Or.. well, late for a farmhand. Somehow after all these months, it was hard getting up so early...

"Hullo!" Rubbing her eyes with her nubs, and giving a wide yawn, she gets ready for what the mysterious breakfast could be. Trying to peek glances didn't help much, just tall pots and pans with a big ladle and oven mitts occasionally.

"Well you better tell me how ya like today's breakfast, 'kay?" Darling sets down two mostly blank plates, aside from some rice piled over to one side. That sure explains the rice cooker, though doesn't explain much else.

"What is it ... -yawn-.. today?" Bapple couldn't help the yawn that came out, though woke up quick at the spiced smell from a pot Darling carried over to each of their plates. Slowly ladling, she coats the rest of the plate with a green sauce-like food with small pieces of things... weird.

"I thought it might do us some good to branch out for spring," giggling to herself a bit at the pun, she continues, "I made us some vegetable curry!  A fellow farmer like ma'self told me 'bout this recipe not too long ago, so I wanted to try makin' it while the season's right!" The smell was warm but invigorating, the pink paca was quite excited to dig in actually.

"This looks great, Darling!" Almost grabbing their tiny fork to scoop a big helping of their food, Bapple pauses for a moment. Darling almost looks like she has something to say, then decides against it. A few moments pass, but they decide to see what it was, "Is there something else?" Thinking there was just more food on the way to complete the meal, the curious paca asks excitedly.

"It's nothin'," Well now they were curious! They've got to know...

"You can tell me!" Still warm and fuzzy from her dreams, Bapple expresses comfort and tries to wriggle the info out of Darling.

"Well..." Starting to spill the mysterious statement or such, Darling decides to go ahead, "I was wonderin' for a bit if you were fixin' to go home at all?" Trying to be gentle, the farmer paca was hoping for a no secretly. It had been so nice having extra help on the farm, with her getting older and the chores growing. Just the cattle were enough to take care of, with some getting older as well and needing special care. Then there's all the planting that needs to be done on time, or else the harvest isn't as good.

"Um.." Putting down their utensils, Bapple avoided eye contact and stumbled a bit on her words, "well I don't have much to go home to, to be honest. I always stayed with the various animals that caught a liking to me," looking up a bit now, trying to see how Darling took what she said, "Helping on the farm has actually been quite nice... If you'll have me, i'd love to stay for a bit longer possibly.." It truly had been magical to be able to help somepaca out so much, and enjoy the company of so frequently. The forest, her old home, tended to get lonely real easily. Especially in the winter time, when everyone was hibernating or too chilly and cold to have a good additude.

A wide smile struck against the bigger paca suddenly, "Well that sounds great!" Bapple looked just as surprised by the other's answer, but was happy this wasn't such an awkward conversation as they had predicted in their head. A small hug was shared, and the two pacas were excitedly chatting over breakfast for the morning. Soon the two of them scarfed down their meal, and even got seconds. Eventually, the two of them tended to their daily chores, though with a new pep in their step!
