The day seemed to start off just as grand as any other day on Palu’au, the sun was high in the sky by now, and the way it reflected off of the gorgeous blue waves of the ocean was a welcome sight to wake up to. Nozomi found herself constantly stopping in the middle of her morning stroll, taking in the beautiful sights that surrounded her as she looked upon them with a smile on her face. “Wonder what I’ll get up to today.” She mumbled to herself, quickly stretching before continuing her walk, but it didn’t last long. Her gaze drifted from the ocean waves as she heard a loud voice echoing out from a little way away, and she found herself quickly jogging towards the sound of the voice, her curiosity piqued. As she approached the source of the voice, she saw a large group of her fellow Elnin, but one Elnin stood out to her, a good friend of hers, in fact. Her jogging pace sped up as she quickly approached said Elnin, appearing in front of him in a moment’s notice. “Hey there, Ryan! What’cha up to?” She asked her friend cheerfully, not seeming to notice how much her sudden appear had caused him to almost jump out of his fur as he quickly takes a step back out of shock, letting out a little scream before noticing just who had surprised him so much. Ryan took a deep breath to calm himself down before weakly glaring at his friend. “Nozomi… Didn’t I ask you to stop scaring me like that…?” He asked in a quiet voice “yea you did, I’m sorry…” Nozomi looked down sadden by the fact she keeps scaring her best friend without meaning too “its fine Nozomi anyway, how are you?” Ryan questioned Nozomi’s mood quickly changed “oh! I’m great just taking a morning stroll along the beach, what about you?” Nozomi tilted her head as she asked, “well I was thinking a-about joining this event” then he shyly looked away “well why not join it, wait what even is the event?” “it’s a fishing event” Nozomi’s eyes then widened “fishing!?” she yelled which caused Ryan to jump again “oh I’m sorry Ryan” Nozomi looked down slightly sadly as she scared her best friend again “it’s really fine Nozomi, I’m sure I’ll get used to it someday” “alright…, anyway, would you like to join the event Ryan?” “yea I do but I don’t kn- w-what are you doing Nozomi?” “I’m sighing us both up” “h-hey wait” but it was too late she had walked off to go sign the both of them up though he was actually pretty happy about it even if it didn’t look or sound like he, he truly loves joining events but he just can’t bring himself to sign up, plus his sister is normally the one who would take charge so he isn’t used to it, anyway he watched as Nozomi was walking over to the big group of people to sign them up, it did take her abit but that’s to be expected of her as she talks to like everyone she sees but she did return after like 20 minutes “what took you so long?” Ryan asked, “oh they were trying to say I couldn’t join” Nozomi reply’s “whys that?” Ryan asked with a small smile on his face as he thought he had an idea as to why “they said I would be too loud and scare away the fish, but I managed to convince them I wouldn’t” Nozomi yelled then noticed she got glares from the other elnin around them “s-sorry” she whispered, Ryan sighed “you really do have to calm down Zomi or other elnin may not like you anymore” “yea I know…” Nozomi slowly put her head down, Ryan then felt bad and gave Nozomi a small pat on her head to cheer her up, which it did so she was back to her normal self and was bouncing around getting really excited for the fishing event and after a few minutes an announcement could be heard “ladies and gentlemen welcome to this year’s fishing tournament, there will be a total of 1 round that will last 30 minutes and u can use fishing rods or your hands/paws! Depending if you are staying in your elnin/kittoms form or switching into your Gijinka form! But as for now! They event begins once everyone I read and standing at the edge of the water!!” “come on Ryan lets go grab our rods!!” she then took off running to the rods and Ryan followed doing a slow jog “woah look at all these roads” Nozomi said with stars in her eyes but one caught her eye in particular it was grey wit white spots which is her fur colour so she grabbed it “mine” said hugging the rod close to her body while Ryan just gave a small smile looking at his friend enjoying herself and then picked a plain light blue “come on Nozomi we should head to the water after we grab some bait” then slowly started walking off to where there was boxes filled with bags of bait for them to take and grabbed one for himself and one for Nozomi and handed it to her after she caught up to him then they both headed to a spot on the beach side and after a few minutes everyone was there then the announcer spoke up again “Alright as everyone is in place and ready then let the event begin!” then there was a loud horn like noise showing the event had fully started “alright Ryan lets show everyone what we got!” she then put her bait on the line and threw it out same as Ryan “y-yea” then the pair went silent during the event as they were fully focusing though every so often you heard Nozomi yell “yes” as she caught something and before they knew it the horn sounds played again “well ladies and gentlemen the event is now over, bring the things you caught up front so we can see who won!” Nozomi quickly grabbed her bag and started to drag it to the front, having a bit of trouble but finally managed to get it there with the help of some elnin that were helping around the event and after 20 minutes the results were in “well everyone we now know the winner! In first place is Nozomi!!” Nozomi looked shocked not thinking she would actually win, Ryan looked down at her with a small smile “congrats Zomi ”then did a closed eyed smile, she did a big smile back the walked up to collect her prize which was a trophy and after the event was over she walked back to her place with Ryan who was making sure she got home safely.
