”If you want to answer that, you can.” Callie said, taking a bite of her salad.

Her little sister pressed ignore on her phone for the sixth time. “No need.” Cassie replied.

Despite herself, Callie was curious. “Who is it?”

”My boyfriend.” Cassie said simply.

Callie had heard of this boyfriend before. Not that her sister spoke often of her love life. But she had managed to pull out the information that there was a boyfriend after noticing how many out of planet trips her sister was taking. In fact, Cassie had just returned from such a trip two days before, hence the lunch to catch up. “May I ask why you’re ignoring your boyfriend?”

Cassie pondered this, sipping on her margarita. She was getting a nice midday buzz on, so she was feeling a bit more open than usual. “Well here’s what happened.”

~~~Two Days Ago~~~
”I’m going to go to the store, you need anything?” Affliction asked.
Cassie was sitting on his couch, crushing his previous records on one of his video games. “Uh, sure, surprise me.”
”Alright.” He said then he was out the door.
Cassie continued playing the game. “Yes, fuck yeah!” She threw the controller across the room. “Oh shit.” She hopped up off the couch to get the controller back. Cassie went to grab the control when something out of the corner of her eye moved. It was a giant fucking spider. Cassie screeched like a girl, chucking her controller again, this time at the arachnid. She jumped up on the couch. “Oh god, oh god, oh god.”
The spider moved lazily towards the wall. It started to climb up behind the TV. Cassie watched it with wide eyes. Stupid jungle and its stupid bugs. She thought. The spider meandered off the adjacent wall, getting uncomfortably close to where Cassie was. She bolted from the couch into the kitchen, looking for some kind. of bug killer. She found some and cautiously approached the wall. Then she let it rain, dousing the spider in half a bottle of the bug killer. To her horror, the spider started moving towards her again. It dropped down on the couch. Cassie yelled and ran over to the table. She was still sitting on the table, bug spray in hand, when Affliction came home.
”What’s wrong?” He asked.
”There’s a huge spider. It’s the biggest fucking one I’ve ever seen and it’s immune to the bug spray!”
”Where is it?”
Cassie pointed vaguely at the living room. “Get it!”
Affliction went into the living room looking for the spider. “Oh! This spider?” He asked. He picked the spider up with his bare hands.
”Oh my god! What are you doing? Kill it!” Cassie screamed.
Then Affliction started laughing. “It’s fake.” He said. The look on Cassie’s face made him burst out and laugh even harder.
”You asshole!” She yelled. Cassie stormed into the bedroom and grabbed her suitcase.
”C’mon, babe.” Affliction managed to say through his laughter. He watched her zipping up her bag and head for the door. “It was just a prank!”
”You’ll be sorry!” She said, then she slammed the door and made her way for the motel.
~~~Present~~~

”So you’re just going to ignore him?” Callie asked.

”Yup.” Callie said, flagging down the waiter for another drink.

”For how long?”

Cassie smirked. “Until I think of something even worse to prank him with.”
