Four Pacapillars stood outside of the abandoned house; the building was famously known in their town for being haunted. Today, the group was going to try to prove the claims to be incorrect. After all, there were no such thing as ghosts, right?

Marlow rolled his eyes. He had gotten dragged along solely because of his investigative nature. Even though it wasn’t explicitly stated, he knew that the rest of the Paca’s would rely on him for doing all of the work. It wasn’t something that he was too keen on spending his time on, however, he didn’t have the heart to decline the request, despite his gruff demeaner.

A purple Paca, Zoom, stood in front of the group. As hard as he tried, he couldn’t hide his fear from everyone else; his trembling body displaying his emotions. “Is everyone ready?” A circle of nods came from the group in response. Upon receiving everyone’s confirmation, Zoom started towards the rundown house with the remaining group in tow.

Inky didn’t want to follow Zoom’s slow pace and rushed ahead of him. She was too excited with the prospect of discovering a ghostly presence to wait. The slimy Paca was the first one in the building. Monte Kek followed closely behind, shedding stars as they walked. Marlow was third, letting out a sigh as he caught up with the others. Zoom was the last one to enter. He stood in the doorway, his foot lifted to enter, and hesitated. Inky’s call for him to hurry up made him come back to his senses and he entered the house. A wave of fear washing over him.

The inside of the house was more decrepit than its exterior – it showed obvious signs of neglect. Furniture laid haphazardly around the house, coated in a thick layer of dust from unuse. Holes decorated the floorboards in some places and the tapestries covering the windows were decorated with tears made by hungry moths. The squeak of the worn, wooden stairs nearly made Zoom jump out of his skin. Laughter from Inky caused his heartbeat to slow down, although it wasn’t by much. He quickly climbed the stairs, eager to rejoin the rest of the group as he found the house to be too spooky for him to traverse by himself.

However, once he reached the top of the stairs, he quickly discovered that he couldn’t find any of his companions. He shuddered at the thought of exploring the house by himself. A feeling of fear weighed heavy in Zoom’s stomach. The purple Paca gulped and began trying to look for his friends. Howls of wind came through the broken windows, causing the curtains to shift and spooking the young Paca even further.

Monte Kek was the first one he found. They were visibly shaken and pointing in the direction of a dark hallway. Apprehension filled Zoom as he turned to look at where the Paca was motioning. Down the hallway, a low groan could be heard. A small shuffling sound began as a figure made its way towards the pair. Zoom and Monte Kek took a step back, causing a loose floorboard to creak. This caught the creature’s attention and it let out a bellow and barreled towards the two Pacas.

The Pacas cried out and fear and nearly tripped over their feet trying to get down the stairs and scrambled out of the house. They didn’t give the house a second glance as they fled. Inky removed their costume and laughed as Marlow shuffled out behind them. The only ghost in the house was Inky. It was a plot made by the duo to scare the younger Pacas and they had succeeded. This was one of the best experiences that the two had and was one they certainly wouldn’t forget.
