It’ll be time to use this soon. Dr. Miro’s set up our connections, so I’ll be able to begin my research into this potential new place. 

But for now, there isn’t really anything for me to do >:[. There aren’t any more people to interview now, really, and I’m not allowed in the more… sciency areas. I’m mostly happy about being the primary at the moment- taking part in our most important research is always fun- but eventually you get tired of reading newspapers from 5 years ago, y’know? 

I’m pretty hopeful about this one! We’ve gotten a lot of connections- everything we’ve seen so far has been pretty much dead. But here, I’ve gotten responses already, without even having to directly contact anyone! It caught me off guard a bit, I wasn’t exactly fully prepared haha, but it’s good motivation to get going and finish making the survey!

This could be the one. I’ll begin contacting people as soon as my computer’s connected to their world wide web.

A little late with this one. We had a power cut last night, so I couldn’t access the computers to write this. Better late than never, though!

The survey program is going better than I’d ever thought it could! We’re getting a decent amount of candiates to continue the study with.

Some thoughts on what we have so far:

•    
  Mostly from North America, with one from Singapore. So at least parts of North America are fully functional here since only one person said their nation had fallen.  
•    
  Everyone gave smartphones as their modern technology example. We’re looking at a level of technology similar to here, then.  
•    
  Years are split between 2019 and 2020. I’m guessing this is because of the study starting in December.  
•    
  There’s an outlier- one person who’s answered a lot like somebody from here would, really. I’ll have to look into this. I do have a few theories myself, though. The most likely one is the connection splitting somehow, to a worse-off timeline but alternatively, they could be from an area of the USA in a bad state the other participants aren’t aware off for some reason.  I won’t know until I ask, really.  

I heard Dr. Miro asking Flora about restoring her profile again today. The technology people still haven’t found out who’s behind the damage. We’re hoping it was hacked, because the alternative is the Recursion spreading into the building, which… wouldn’t be great, to say the least.

Victor always looks uncomfortable when the hacker’s brought up, but I’m pretty sure it’s not him. He’s useless with computers.

 I think we’re out of sync with them now. I don’t know.

We had another powercut, so I just decided to go back to my room and try to sleep through it. Flora ended up waking me up, she looked really worried and I didn’t understand why.

Apparently I  hadn’t left my room for a few days? Even though the clock on my computer said I’d taken a 2 hour nap. I think the building itself got out of sync. The tech team are working on fixing things though, Flora said. They're sending people outside to get the computer clock systems working again.

The whole dorms had been messed up, but I was the first person she checked on. She really cares about me! I really care about her as well- I don’t think it’s the same way for both of us, but…

Enough about that.

Everyone’s been staying in the common room until things are sorted, but Clover and Mia are nowhere in sight…

I hope they’re okay. Clover’s such a sweet person.

I’ve split the survey results into 2 groups.

Group A: People in good places! Definite candiates.

Group B: Not great, but viable.

I was going to make a group C, but  I realised there’d only be the outlier in it… I’ll keep them in mind, but I won’t continue the survey program with them yet. I deleted the survey I made for them for now.

The power’s back, thankfully. I think that might have been the single most uncomfortable thing that’s happened to me- I already don’t like the dark all that much, and being stuck in it for hours…. Ugh.

I shouldn’t get hung up on that, there’s far worse things that came out of it than the lights going out… Everything was all dusty outside of the saferoom when Dr Miro finally let us outside, and the flowers in the vase in my office...aren’t doing great :(. I don’t think they can really be saved at this point, which sucks- Flora gave me those! Said she saw them while going for a walk outside and she thought they’d look good in here. And she was right! They do. Well, did. They’re kind of dead now, as I said.

We can’t even go outside anymore now- it’d be too dangerous, what with that last dilation. That’s what the higher ups are saying, anyway. I don’t really want to risk getting myself killed over not believing them and trying to get out- not that security would let me do that. As much as I love my job, being able to take a break and see the outside world sometimes was nice.

I’ve got my research to keep me busy, at least. If any of those taking part still remember me. This has been a pretty big setback.

And I have Animal Crossing. God, I’m going to have a lot of weeding to do.
