Author's Notes

I was getting ready to move Phones, when I saw this piece in a note app. I remember writing it- but I think I should write more to it.

Lorry closed the door to her daughter's room after saying goodnight to her. She smiled warmly to herself, briefly reflecting on her life. Things have definitely gotten better, and she dare say her life was near perfect... Though there was an empty space still inside her. Her work truly took over her life, and things passed her by in a flash. She walked to a window and looked up at the bright, silvery moon. Her mind slipped a second as she hears herself, much younger, sounding ever so like a moody teenager at the age of 8, say "You're Such A Pest, Ralph! Don't Touch That!" she blinks a moment, and looks around. She then hears "C'mon, Lorry! It's not a big deal!" and she clearly hears his laughter. She looks around. The mind, sometimes, plays tricks at night, and she was getting the brunt of the joke. Like an echo from the past. Time surely passed her by. How long had it been since she saw her brother last? She can't really recall. The last memory she had of him was him reluctantly leaving Arcadia when they were teens... Before she was Queen. Was it really so long ago?

It wasn't like she didn't want to see him, but a part of her felt like it was too awkward to reach out at this point. She gazed back outside with a wistful look. She missed her brother. The moment he left Arcadia kept looping in her head. He was holding himself together, he smiled sadly as she protested loudly at her parents that the Council couldn't possibly banish their son, for who were they, really? She clearly remembered choking back her tears as he said back to her "It's okay, Lorry. It is your right. You're the oldest." and practically sobbing in protest, for her brother not to leave.

She wondered if he missed her the same way. She felt Felix's hand on her shoulder, and soon he was right next to her, grinning. "what 'cha do' n? You thinking about me?" he chuckled and joined her looking outside. "it's a nice night out there. Want to go for a walk?" Lorry smiled and nodded.

"That'd be nice, actually."

They walked together in silence for a while, and soon Felix broke the ice. "Something has been on your mind Lately, Storm, And I know it's not me" he gives a little joking chuckle. Lorry returns the chuckle and holds his hand as they walk.

"I've been thinking about my brother a lot lately..." Felix looks in thought a moment, then nods. Lorry doesn't talk about him much, but he knows about her younger twin brother. He gives her hand a little squeeze and smiles a little. "Go on?"

"It's just... It's been a long time since I've seen him. I wonder how he is doing..." Lorry sighs, but looks at Felix with a smile. "it seems like time has been flying by." Felix nods. He leans over to kiss her cheek, sending a small spark to fluff her hair out. Lorry can't help but to let out a giggle. She knows Felix thinks her static hair is cute. "Thanks Thunder. You always know just what to do."

"Don't I?" he gives a cocky grin as the pair makes a start back home.

The next morning, when Lorry woke up, Felix was not in the room. This wasn't unusual, as Felix had a tendency to wake up before she does. The house was quiet... Too quiet... Usually she would wake to the sound of Oliver reacting to something Sen and/or Seth did to wake him up. She pulled on her clothes, and made her way toward the main living area.

There was a note on the table, in Felix's handwriting:

Storm,

Took the kids out somewhere.

Please Enjoy yourself!

-Thunder

He put little lightning bolts around his pet name signature. Lorry smiled a little, but found it all... Rather odd. Not the signature thing- the whole... Taking the kids out. So early. She felt like something was up, but she had no idea what to think. She shrugged to herself, and began to make herself some breakfast.

Then there was a knock on the door. She raised an eyebrow, she wasn't expecting anyone. Felix wouldn't have knocked. She walked over and opened the door.

She stood in stunned silence to see her brother staring back at her. He was smiling knowingly. "you know... You could have just... Came to see me." he laughed a little, "I was beginning to think that you didn't want to see me!" Lorry didn't think, she just hugged her brother. Happy tears rolled down her cheek.

"but how did you-?"

"I assume that spiky haired blonde is your new husband? I don't know how he found me either! But when he showed up and asked me to come over, how could I let my big sister down?"

Lorry was once again blown away by Felix's thoughtfulness. And the two siblings began to catch up.
