Chop Suey bounded through the darkness of the market, the satchel around their neck half full with food they stole from the stalls.. It was quite late at night now and practically no human was awake. Suey was what’s called a “Saucedemon” and where they lived, Saucedemons were more of a bad omen and they have a sort of bad stigma around them. That’s why Suey always went out at night, mainly to steal food from the market stalls and not be noticed most of the time.

As Suey crept into another stall, they looked behind themselves, checking to see if there were any other Saucedemons around. Most of the time, Saucedemons went to the bigger market and left Suey alone in this one, which gave them the chance to grab a bunch of food and materials, fill up their bags, and head back home, which was actually a burrow underneath a house. The house owners either didn’t notice them or just didn’t give a crap about whether or not there was a Saucedemon underneath their house. Either way, Suey was just glad that they were safe underneath that house. Otherwise, they’d have to fend for themselves again. And that is not what they wanted to happen. They weren’t really paying much attention since they tried to find the food

Suey found that food and started collecting up some of the food from the stall when they heard a rustling sound from nearby. They jumped as they stuffed the food into their satchel, moving into a hiding spot in case it was an aggressive Saucedemon coming to take food from them. When they confirmed the coast was clear, Suey made a dash for home. The sooner they got home, the better. It was better to be home before dawn but whatever worked, worked.

As soon as the brown feline-like creature got to their home, they sighed. Suey walked over to a corner of the burrow where they often kept food. There were a few leaves on the ground to keep the food clean and they were from a species of tree that kept most insect and bug pests away from the food. They poured out the food onto the leaves. The amount of food they got was probably enough for only 2-3 days. Not the best haul but.. At least it’ll hold the Saucedemon over for the next few days.

“Dang.. wish those humans were a lot nicer than they are now,” Suey sighed to themselves, upset that humans were as cruel as they were. But the world, it’s not perfect. It never was. Animals, humans, and even Saucedemons and other extraterrestrial beings would kill just for food or survival. Cruelty was just a way of living for a lot of creatures. “I guess I’ll just have to accept that.. I’ve just gotta hope that people will get better before it all gets worse..”
