The first time Lorrel killed someone, she justified it being an accident. It was her anger. Her bubbling vat of lava in the pit of her heart. One night, that vat tipped over, spilling out of her, spilling over her common sense, over her actions. When it cooled, she saw she had three bodies to dispose of.

Her anger spilled still, but she didn’t call it accidents anymore. Between the sleepless nights and the aftermath’s guilt, one problem stood among the rest. What do you do with the bodies?

Recently, she disposed her bodies in the river, but it was inconvenient to lug those around. Not to mention environmentally unfriendly. A dead body was a deadweight, and by the time she scrubbed herself of evidence, dawn already broken.

Luckily, she knew people with similar problems that could benefit from discussion. The first person she asked was her friend, Gigi. A pretty girl with tired eyes and disheveled hair. “Gigi, how would you get rid of bodies?”

Gigi stared at her deadpan— which said it all. As an embalmer, getting rid of bodies was her profession. When the words left Lorrel’s mouth, she realized the redundant question. She saved face with a readjustment to her glasses and moved onto someone else.

She contemplated Garret. He was a giant in the woods, inside a cottage, with a garden like a kaleidoscope. And yet, she didn’t need to ponder his choice of disposal. There was a reason he had such a green thumb.

With a frustrated sigh, she settled on asking her friend Devil. Devil was… an oddity. Lorrel didn’t notice much about his hobbies, other than he returned from his trips with clothes reeking of chemicals. Didn’t hurt to ask.

“Devil, how would you hide bodies?”

“… The fuck kind of question is that?”

   “It’s research. Please answer.”

Devil paused, crossing his arms. “I’d just leave them and take a flight back home.”

“Ah.” Her arms hung at her sides in defeat. All of this taught her nothing but how to waste more time. She gave up. A better way didn’t exist. Maybe disposing a body wasn’t meant to be easy. Perhaps that’s why killing people is against the law.
