There are these crystals all over the planet, each one has a lord that rules over the area that crystal has. The lords are the rulers of the land they own, as well as rulers of the subjects the crystal creates. The crystal has immense power, sometimes creating tiny shards of itself and they piece together to make a new subject, or a lord, although the lords are a lot harder to make as they are a lot bigger. Lords can be scratched and broken, if they are shattered their shards go back to the crystal. It takes a long time for the crystal to form a new lord. A damaged lord can meditate by the crystal and slowly heal. A lord can be killed by shattering their head or torso, but if you just rip off it's limbs it is stuck there until someone either shatters them or brings them to their crystal to heal. Each lord has their own set of powers determined by their crystal, and each succeeding lord has slightly different powers and a slightly different personality, although the general types of personalities are generated by the crystal as each crystal has its own power. But when a lord dies, all the subjects can feel it and get a stinging pain for a little while. a lord has their own area and, each lord has a different way buildings look depending on the crystal. Even if a lord dies all the buildings and people stay alive, but without a leader, they are lost, and lonely, until either they shatter and their energy and shards go to the crystal, or until a new lord is created. Different lords can have alliances, where the buildings and everything are a mix of the two crystals. A lord can take over the land of another lord and change it to their land, and the base the crystal is on turns to their building structure, but the crystal is still intact and they will continue forming subjects, and a lord whenever they need to. There is no way of stopping the formation of a lord, but they can force the lord under their control.
