I Want To Live!
The first instance of Cassidy's power coming into effect.
A scream rips through the night.
The scream of a girl, a girl full of desperation and fear.
She is pinned by a boot, battered and bloody. On death's door as it would seem. The boot presses harder, eliciting a yelp of pain from the girl.
"P…please…!"
"Maybe if you beg some more, God will hear you. Or not." The man has a wicked smile, reveling in the girl's pain. Tears stream down the girl's face. She's scared…
"P-please! I want…"
"Want what? God can't hear you."
"I want…!" The girl's frightened whisper turns into a scream. "I WANT TO LIVE!"
The man's eyes widen, and he teeters in place before his legs give out and he falls sideways. Completely limp, eyes wide open. The girl gasps as if she has been deprived of air for hours. Whereas she was unable to move her fingers without pain a moment ago, her whole hand jerks to life. It's as if all her wounds have been healed in a split second. She scrambles to her feet, rushing to run away from the man. She doesn't stop to check for a pulse. Not that she would find one.
