Technology was a peculiar thing, Bracken had always found. Paving paths to new possibilities and futures, and molding the world to what anyone could ever want. It was at the core of the community she was raised in, shut off from everything outside of its walls. Why leave when everything you could ever need was inside?

And then there was Grassy. She was fueled not by need but by want. She wandered the grasslands, the hills, the trees and tunnels, and looked to the stars. Magic danced at her fingertips and she would throw away all she ever needed to grasp at what she wanted. To live, to experience, to find something more. It sounded so incredibly dramatic, but really it was as simple as curling around Bracken on the edge of a cliff. Want, not need. A change of pace that Bracken finds she deeply adores.

Their eyes shone brightly, gentle snowfall floating past their clouded breaths. Northern lights dance across the night sky, and Bracken cannot help the well of tears in her eyes. It was gorgeous, a sight she would have never seen behind the walls. She finds herself slipping further beyond them with every day. The thought doesn't bug her nearly as much as it used to.
