Nightmares

It was late at night, no creature was awake besides those who woke at night and slept during the day, the wind was loud as it was storming outside, and both Salmon in Nebula were in their bed sleeping soundly with smiles on both of their faces.

However, Salmon's smile was quickly replaced by a frown, as she would jerk her limbs slightly as if to get away from something in her dream.

After a while, the female jerked awake, her eyes popping open in a flash as she calmed herself down as she was breathing heavily and didn't want to wake Nebula up. Glancing over, she smiled at the other female before getting off the bed and decided to go get some warm milk, as it would help her fall back to sleep.

What she didn't know was that Nebula was already awake, had been for a while, and slowly stood up and went after Salmon, to check on her and make sure she was alright and she was concerned for the other female who had been having nightmares constantly.

As Salmon was drinking her warm milk, she didn't hear the soft footsteps behind her as the rain and wind was so loud outside it drowned out any other noise, and she jumped at the noise of lighting when it struck something, before calming back down.

She didn't have time to finish her milk, as Nebula spoke and startled her, making her drop the almost empty glass of milk, and shattered as it made impact with the floor below.

“Salmon? What's wrong?”

Nebula winced at the sound of shattering glass, but made a note to herself to clean it up tomorrow first thing when she woke up, Salmon was her main concern at the moment.

Salmon spun around, and looked up at Nebula as she smiled softly. “Nothing, just had a nightmare is all”

Nebula then returned the smile, and leaned down to kiss Salmon on the cheek.

“Come, let's go back to bed”

Nebula then turned around and made her way back towards the bedroom, assuming Salmon was following.

“What about the shattered glass?” Salmon whispered softly, but followed behind the hyena as she glanced back.

Nebula let out a giggle, and laid back down on the bed as Salmon followed right behind her, and she instantly cuddled Salmon, closed her eyes and she pressed another gentle kiss on Salmon's cheek.

“I will clean it first thing tomorrow, let's just sleep while we can”

And with that the two drifted back off to sleep, smiles both on their faces once again as it continued to rain outside, only now it wasn't a storm but just light rain with soft wind whirling around, making it easier to fall asleep knowing they were both safe in each other's arms.
