The Warning
“Umm, Lord Madda-Rakt?”
Torio cautiously entered the chamber with drooping ears and shifting eyes.
“Lord Madda-Rakt, I have news. It’s not good news but I think it’s important for you to know.”
“What is it, guard?”
“There- oh dear how do I word this- somebody is on their way here with the intention to kill you, and for once it’s not the guild.”
“I know.” The Matter Lord’s deep voice sounded oddly calm for someone who knew their palace was about to get assaulted.
“Oh? Oh.” Of course their Lord already knew about the plans, they had those special sight abilities. “I admire your confidence, Lord Madda-Rakt.”
Torio smiled a little and hoped their comment didn’t sound sarcastic, because they were truly heartfelt words.
