The excited voices of people could be heard all around. People lined the market streets casually window shopping and bartering with vendors. Leon bobbed about the crowd, the sound of snow crunching under his feet. It was a bit chilly today. It seemed to snow everyday around here. Reminded him a lot of home. Leon smiled a little at the thought. He hadn't been home in some time. Leon paused to blow warm air into his hands.

What was he doing here again? Oh right, a gift to replace the one he tried to knit. Leon made a face. The scarf he made was almost triangle with more holes than a piece of swiss cheese. While he thought little of it, if someone made a bad remark about it he'd stupidly defend it. That was besides the point. He had to get something better.

The gift was intended for his teacher Jamie. A ploy to make Leon the best pupil there ever was. He was Jamie's only pupil but he was going to be the best one. Now since they were both merchants, Leon knew well that they both could get exotic goods. This made it tricky. Whatever he got Jamie was going to have to be beyond phenomenal.

Leon passed by windows and poked into many stores. He looked at every object with the scrutiny that only a stereotypical father looking over their daughter's prospective date would understand. After an hour of looking he spotted a locket. It was a tiny gold sun that could be hooked onto a bracelet or chain. In the center was a hidden compartment for a teeny herb or photo. It also came with a tiny "you will loose me" key that could also be hooked.

The shop keeper rushed up to him clearly smelling a sale. "That's enchanted. It boosts spells placed into it. It also helps boost memory if a photo is placed inside."

"I'll take it" Leon started to manically chuckle making other shoppers wary of him. Leon made a quick purchase. Making sure to stop by a place that printed photos. Leon stuck his photo in and locked it, pocketing the key. Now Leon was never going to be forgotten as "BEST" pupil. Thinking himself clever he made more crowd parting manacle chuckles. Jamie would think Leon was best weather he wanted to or not.
