Hey, Caspian, it’s been a while!

I’ve been doing fine! They just gave me honors for saving a bunch of lives from a mafia attack and I’ve got a rank, now! I told all those guys I could advance without having to pay them for help, though it was nice of them to make the offer even if they did want my Petalies as fair compensation! They seemed a little down at the ceremony. Maybe they were just really disappointed they didn’t get to help me?

Work’s not much different, though. Still patrolling on my own, still not in command of a squad. They said something about not being able to afford a squad and if they could be paid a little more they could take on some for me. They asked if I could dock my pay but I said that would be wrong and forwarded a request up the chain! They seemed a little sad to not be able to help again.\

I’m still rather upset, though. They didn’t tell anyone in time about another mafia raid on a neighborhood. A dozen or so people lost their homes, and a couple lost their lives before I got there. I don’t understand why my superiors aren’t able to respond in time. I mean, it’s not like they’re holding back on purpose, right? They’d never do that! They would be as bad as the mafia, then!

I’m starting to wonder if I’m really able to do much with my job, but I really want to help people and even though I’m barely getting any sleep I never seem to arrive on time, and all the detectives on the force never seem to turn up any leads… can I really do this? Can I really help anyone? I always thought I could, but I’m starting to have doubts and it scares me. But I’ve gotta keep going forward. I’ve gotta try to keep people safe. I’ve gotta make sure everything is okay in the end. So send me all the luck you can, Caspian. I think I’m gonna need it unless the Lorsh decides to send some help my way.

Tell Talula I said hi, and I wish you both the best for your business and personal lives. I’ll keep at it… don’t worry about me.

Sincerely,

Vincent
