Samsara smoothed down the dress shirt he was wearing at Vulpes’s insistence that he should wear something better than a casual attire for a date. Not in the mood to argue, he didn’t argue and tugged on a dark maroon dress shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. After securing a watch to his wrist, he decided against putting on a tie and grabbed his wallet, phone and keys.

“I’ll be taking the car.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Vuples waved him off. “Have fun on your date.”

Giving a nod as an acknowledgement, he walked out of the house and locked it behind him. Only when the car pulled out of the driveway and onto the road did Vulpes relax.

“Finally!” Vulpes muttered to herself. She pulled out her phone and quickly fired off a text to Solstice.

‘He’s out, on the way now.’

She received a reply after only 10 seconds.

“Okay, got it! We’re about finished here.”

Smiling, she pocketed the phone and switched on the television. After all, she now had the whole evening to herself and she had nothing better to do. Might as well watch something to entertain herself.

Meanwhile at the cafe, the evening rush had finally calmed down. The pasties they had made were all sold out and Brigitte had closed the cafe.

“Hey Vega,” Solstice wore a smug grin as she called him over.

Seeing that smirk, a pool of dread settled into the depth of Vega’s stomach.

“Yes…?” He answered hesitantly.

“Look who’s here to pick you up!”

Vega whipped his head around in time to see Samsara exit his car. His face immediately heated up when he saw what his boyfriend was wearing. Samsara had rolled up the sleeves of the maroon dress shirt he was wearing to show his forearms and he had the first two buttons undone, showing a bit of skin while his skinny jeans were hugging his figure in all the right places.

Brigitte could only chuckle to herself when Vega was trying not to stare. He was failing miserably.

“Sweetheart, go ahead.” She gently set her hand on his shoulder. “Solstice, Elijah and I can handle the rest. And Samsara came to pick you up. Better not keep him waiting okay?”

Vega only hesitated for a second before he nodded, heading to the locker to change and returned with the stuffed toy in his arms and the cookies in his bag. After Vega and Samsara left, Brigitte turned to Solstice.

“Did you plan this?”

She shrugged. “Nope, he just asked me to text him when the cafe closed.”

Brigitte smiled. “Thank you.”

“What can I say?” She grinned. “Those two are more entertaining than any show.”

“Good evening Vega.”

“Good evening...”

Vega was still blushing, trying to hide his face in the stuff capybara.

“I’ve reserved a restaurant for us. I hope you don’t mind.”

Vega shook his head. He was still extremely new to this and incredibly nervous. He was trying to calm his nerves and his racing heart. His heart was beating so loud that he was sure Samsara could hear it too. Samsara noticed how tense Vega was. He gently grasped Vega’s hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

“Hey, it’s okay to be nervous.” He told him. “I may not look like it but I’m nervous too. It is our first date alone after all.” He admitted. He was slightly blushing as well.

Vega returned the reassuring squeeze on his hand by rubbing soothing circles on the back of Samsara’s along with Samsara’s energy gem located there. “I’m okay. Let’s go.”

When they arrived at the restaurant, it was, as expected, extremely crowded. However, the pair were escorted to a table almost immediately.

“There are a lot of people here today...” Vega noted.

“It’s a famous restaurant so it’s to be expected.”

“How did you get a reservation at such short notice?”

“Let’s just say this restaurant is one of those sponsors I endorse.”

Vega nodded. He remembered that Samsara was a professional gamer and thanks to that, he was offered a lot of sponsors. At times, it was annoying since they couldn’t meet but other times, it was nice. There were special perks like this.

The meal was passed in a comfortable atmosphere as Samsara tried to get Vega to say more than a few words throughout the whole meal. Vega was more than happy to listen to Samsara talk though.

After dining, Samsara drove to the field where they first met. The two sat side by side just gazing into the sky.

“There was supposed to be a meteor shower tonight and I wanted to watch it with you.”

As the meteors light up the night sky, Vega wrapped one of his wings around Samsara, enjoying both the view and the peace.

“Samsara...” He managed to muster up the courage, pushing his anxiety back down. “I like you...”

Samsara kissed Vega’s forehead, his lips brushing against Vega’s energy gem. “I love you too, my shining star.”
