Nico can be warm and loyal to anyone that gets past his frosty and quiet exterior. He tries to be formal, and polite, sometimes to a fault. If met with hostility to his attempts, he will become even colder. He is incredibly protective though, even to people he dislikes. If danger threatens people near him, Nico will jump headfirst into danger, and is quick to resort to violence to solve problems. He has no qualms about taking life, he's good at his job as a mercenary, and sometimes is hired to for assassination contracts.
For anyone he's close to though, he is very physically affectionate, but prefers to show it in private. He's not ready for the world to know he has a soft side yet.
History:
After losing his Tolka mate 35 years ago, he wallowed in despair until eventually, he played a game with Viis. Nico bet his desolate life and won—and so when he requested it, the chaotic deity granted him "freedom". It wiped his memory of the violence of his husband's death, allowing Nico's mind to fabricate the foggy idea that his mate was lost from an accident in the wilds. Viis released Nico of his guilt and pain, at the accepted cost of true knowledge.
As it offered him this new beginning, Viis instructed Nico to sleep. In his slumber, Aria arose and whispered dreams into his desperate and empty mind, filling it with purpose... and guiding him towards a storm.
"Fly deep into the darkest storm, and you will find what you seek... Find me."
Nico awoke from Viis' blessing reinvented and with refreshed purpose. The dream followed him into the waking world, the voice so terribly similar to the Tolka he once loved... So he set out to heal his scars and to explore the world, in hopes of understanding his echoing dreams. Now he chases thundering skies as an aerowing pilot, though not on the lawful side; he uses his skills and intuition to commit varying acts of piracy. The thrill of thievery amidst the tumultuous clouds holds Nico's interest enough to push further into every storm, letting his "mate" guide him in his dreams.
