To give is to receive

When in a tavern she see petit. they look so down, so broken, so low that for a few hours, Perap forgets about herself having found someone who appears to be worse off then her. They talk, and Perap offers Petit money in exchange for getting her information. Perap doesn't need this information, and fraknly doesn't care about it, but she can tell that to Petit it may mean the world. The two of them need someone else to care about/ for so why not eachother?
