Fonts! (and where to find them)

A nice collection of places to get fonts that are amazing for (personal) use in art!

There are alot of font website out there, but many either have too many behind a paywall or are very sparce in their collection. Dafont.com is amazing in that there are tons of unique and very easy-to-read and use fonts (you've probably seen some I've used for my open species bases) and having an amazing sorting system to boot. There's even a forum to identify fonts if there's one out in the wild that you're dieing to use.

Another great resource is r/identifythisfont which, as the name suggests, is a community that identifies fonts. A problem with it is that your chances of getting a font identified is based on how legible your image is and how much the other members of the community want the font identified, so it can be a toss-up on reliability.

Whatthefont is the best resource if you just want a font identified quick and easy, but it relies on the fonts it has in its library and can't identify fonts that aren't using the Latin-script alphabet.

My personal favorite font collection is Fontworks, which is a pretty affluent Japanese font company. You've probably seen their work even if you've never noticed before. Just go to Nintendo of Japan's website and most if not all of the promotional material will be using at least one of these fonts.

There's also this great typesetting tutorial originally meant for the scanlations of sbr, but they are honestly great for getting that authentic modern fanscan vibe and giving a wide variety of easily readable fonts to use.
